Ooh, Lori, I've never heard of Small Farm Canada - I'll have to check it out.

I get:
Victoria (so happy they brought it back!)
Harrowsmith Country Life (which just came today, yay!)
I would love to get British Country Living but it's overseas subscription is very pricey - so I'll settle for a few from the bookstore.

I regularly purchase:
Mother Earth News-this is my Favorite, I have learned a lot.
Renaissance magazine (yep, I am THAT big of a geek)
Romantic Homes
Country Home -letting this one lapse, not so happy with the ads-too many of them!

That is about it since most of the time when I read my magazine's it is through my eyelids-I doze off too fast.

I love all the magazines by Stampington & Company. Some are a little pricey but are well worth every penny and are keepers. Haute Couture, Somerset Life, Somerset Studio, Belle Armoire, Somerset memories, just to name a few. I get a little crazy when I see them all lined up at the book-store! Yummy!!
Here is their website so you can go and drool!!

Meg and Corinne...I just looked at the webpage for Harrowsmith Country life....I like the concepts, but is it something I could utilize in Kentucky, or is it geared more towards Canada? I love Canada, and dream of sneaking away there one day, but until then, I live in Kentucky :)

Oh Frannie..it's one of my favorites. Our Country Living has so many advertisements, and is really more about "fixing your house up like you want to be country" though now they've hopped on the "green" train like everyone else, and British Country Living is really about british farmers, fair pricing for crops/livestock, with some beautiful decorative and garden things, too. There has been a grass root movement for sometime in England to retain their old craftsmanship, and buy "UK", and it makes me jealous that we're just now getting into that here.

I got the magazine when I lived in England and still crave it...I keep every single one and re-read and re-read and re-read. Beautiful all the way around.

You can, Frannie, but it's steep (over $100.00) which I why I simply pick them up one at a time...I know that's probably more costly in the end at $7.95 a pop, but I often don't have (or won't) spare $100 or more for me :)

i am trying to clean out/reorganize my craftroom and am going through old magazines. it is so hard for me to let go of them, even when i have gone through and pulled out pages that i want. then i just end up with magazines that have been ravaged, ya know kinda like ravazines. hehehehe
my biggest piles seem to be country living, victoria and mother earth news, but in the day when i had the steady income, there was no magazine that was safe from my consumer grasp!
the somerset studio mags are very dreamy and i love looking at them and occasionally purchase, but thankfully it is a 30 mile trip to a source of these mags!god knew what he was doing when he led to me this off the beaten path cottage.

I subscribe to:
Mary Janes Farm
Southern Living
Country Living
Coastal Living
Cottage Living

I can't part with any of them and they are taking over!
I also pick up other magazines from month to month. Have given up subscriptions to 3 other mags because I just had too many.

I do purge...but it's usually Country Living. I like it, but there are just too many ads!!! Someone mentioned here that Country Home had too many--I actually starting taking Country Home OVER Country Living because it had less!!!!

I pick my favorites (seems to be Spring issues and Autumn issues) and then take the rest to a local nursing facility for their "collage" and decoupage projects.

We get lots of free magazines too. Progressive Farmer is one of my favorites - there'a bit more too it than just advertisements. The Southeast Farm Press is always chock-full of info.

Hey Jonni,

I subscribe to Harrowsmith, too. It's about rural living, has recipes, gardening, eco-living, renovating, etc. Probably the only really Canadian slanted articles will be "prettiest town to live in" or "spring seed catalog guide" type articles. If you want to email me your mailing address, I could send you a back issue to look at to help you decide if it's for you.

WOW! I buy a lot of magazines too. Hobby Farms, Hobby Farm Home, Countryside, Sheep!, Dairy Goat Journal, Romantic Homes, Do it Yourself, Victoria, Fonds & Potter Quilting, MJF (when I can find it! Guess I'll just have to subscribe), Country Living, Country Home, and various others. I used to have subscriptions to some, but now I just pick up the ones that tickle my fancy and leave the rest.

I used to buy Martha Stewart Living too, but I bought a subscription for our local library, so now I just borrow the issues from them. Easier than trying to store them. They are HUGE!!

Did anyone see the issue of Romantic Homes with the "Flower Bed" in it? I think it was the one that came out around Mother's Day. Well, that's my Mother-in-Laws HOUSE!!! We were all shocked! Her cousin/God-daughter, Cory, took the pictures and submitted the article and never told anyone until the issue was published. It was so exciting for my mother-in-law, and Romantic Homes is her favorite magazine. Cory also writes for Sommerset. They asked her to be a part of their magazine when they came across her blog (called "Tongue-in-Cheek") She's quite the writer and takes the most GORGEOUS photographs! She lives in France, so there is a lot about french antiques and markets and such on her blog. It's really cool.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. ~~ George Carlin
