Hey there girlfriends, anyone out there know a thing or two about digital photography? I'm getting inspired to get a little more serious about taking good artsy pictures from all of MaryJanes stuff, except all my pictures look pretty much the same....boring! Any tips, books, websites to help?

I love Pioneer Woman! She's a big reason I'm getting interested in photography too...I don't have photoshop though, which is what she's all about. I guess I'm hoping there's tricks I can do just with composition and camera functions that can get me some good results.

If you want your pictures to look very different in short order, the best trick I can recommend is to try shooting everything at a very large aperture - put that setting to the smallest number you can on your camera, maybe 2.4 or 1.8. Only the exact area that you focus on will be in focus and everything else will be blurred.

Emme...what type of camera do you have? Sometimes if you go on the website for your brand, they will have tutorials. My friend got a really nice Nikon & it had those. I have a Canon & they also have some info on their site. Hope that helps! I need to look at mine too & get more tips. I am sure I could be taking much better photos as well.

Hey there Emme. I don't mind a bit to help you with anything photography. I've done workshops for the 4H kids and homemakers here and several others from purchasing a camera to how to take a better photo to other tips, tricks, etc. It is something that I've grown to love for almost 20 years now. I'm still learning day by day as the times have changed. Send me an email and I can send you the stuff that I've taught and some valuable websites. :)
