Last night was beautiful. Nora was sleeping away in her room, dusk was closing in on the world. I washed the dishes and hung up my apron of the day. I sat in the apartment finishing up the last correspondences of the day. Not a single light was on, but my blinds were open to the night. The dog was sleepy, the bed was made and a slight dampness in the air from Nora's bedtime bath. As I closed the blinds for bed time I looked out over my little corner of Moscow and was happy. Something about the fragrances in the air, the texture and quality of the light- it was heaven.

Have you ever found yourself in one of those moments where everything is perfect? That you have that quietness of soul that tells you that you worked hard and did good that day. And while there might be stresses in your life- right that minute they don't matter. I wanted to wrap myself in that feeling and hold it close, like a child's favorite blanket!

I find it most in nature...I love watching the horses graze, hearing the frogs peep and the sandpipers trill as my dogs snore by my feet. This time of year the river is gurgling and even if it is cool, I like to wrap up and sit watching twilight...contentment is good. I'm happy that you will have good memories of Moscow =)

I used to have that feeling when my children were little. It was so nice.

I had a nice one yesterday, sitting outside in my tank top and shorts, cowgirl hat, flip flops flung off, Charlie playing in a bucket of water, watering his seeds and my toes, drinking his from his water bottle and saying "Freshing (refreshing)!!" and just enjoying the sun.

I honestly have found the more I downsize, less stuff I have, the more simple I make things, surrounding myself with beauty and quietness, more time with the family and out in nature, the better my week goes.

Cheers,
Heather

Last night I had a pretty good evening after coming home. I made a cup of chamomile tea, started my tart burner with a nice lilac smelling tart, turned some peaceful new age music on, and was going to read a bit while my husband was puttering around in the basement. He decided to come up and have tea with me and we had a pleasant chat about some plans we have made. It was just a nice relaxing time after having had a pretty rough time last weekend.

But my favorite times happen usually when I'm outside. On weekends when the weather is warm we will have breakfast on our back patio. It faces our orchard and we have a bird feeder close by. We usually will spend a few hours just sitting there watching the sun rising, the birds, and all the wildlife around. We sit out there in the evenings too sometimes. I also get that feeling when we go hiking and/or geocaching. It's so nice to be out in nature when it's so pretty outside.

Ooh I get that feeling right at sunset, Alee. When the sunlight is so golden it's magical. Usually spring and summer are the best, but occassionally fall has wonderful sunsets! :D

I find that feeling when I'm brushing my horses...or just hanging out with them in the evening. Also, when I'm crocheting and really into a project. I forget all my stresses and my mind is happy but focused!

I got that feeling today while going down to the pasture to put on Hoss's fly mask, the fruit trees are blooming, kids napping and my Robin friend has come back to her fav. tree to nest!

And it's always when there's not much going on.

Alee .. what a wonderfully refreshing post! Quite honestly, i usually find myself feeling like that. I truly am a very happy, content person.

I believe we each have to find that happiness WITHIN .. and then let it manifest itself WITHOUT .. and we would all know the 'magic' of peace.

Thanks for the sweet reminders of what makes us all happy .. Farmgirls, let's hear more of it .. and less of the negative. xo, frannie

I find the best time is when I am Present in the moment of everyday life. For me it can be right after giving a bottle to my house goat and she falls asleep in my arms, breathing softly with a smile on her face. Another is the gentle motion as I move the pedal to my spinning wheel - it is the beat in my soul - like taking a breath - I am centered. I also get that feeling when I am walking down my driveway to collect the mail and my eyes lock with one of the young does that grace my property with their gentle presence. Our eyes meet and we stand gazing into each others souls longing for a common language to share our thoughts but then it is broken with the russell of the leaves and she bounces off into the forest. I give quite thanks for staying present in my ordinary moments..
