Seems several gals here have mentioned adding 'a couple drops' of essential oils to their all-purpose vinegar cleaners. What ratio do you use? Not to sound dumb, but does it leave an 'oily' film? I would love to have that touch of fragrance, but don't want to do it wrong and have to clean it twice.

I don't know about the vinegar cleaners, but I add essential oil to my homemade laundry detergent. I make it in a five gallon bucket and I add about 1/2 tsp. It smells really good too- my favorite is lavender.

From what I've read it's basically to your liking, I think one I read said 20-25 drops and another said just as you wish. Not much help...lol

My favorite way to scent vinegar is to steep it in citrus rinds. I have 2 jugs of vinegar, one with orange rinds & one with grapefruit. I love the grapefruit!! It smells fresh & clean. I just add more vinegar periodically. I will change rinds when I feel the need, but I think the vinegar keeps them from spoiling.

Essential oils are not "oily" in the same way that, say, vegetable oil is oily. They are not fatty, in other words. they do not dissolve in water, but, won't leave a film. for example, if you put a few drops of pure essential oil on a piece of paper, after an hour or two, there is no mark on the paper, but the scent remains. :) make sense?

Do you ever add essential oils to powdered laundry detergent?

I do this all the time. I add a couple drop of lemon, rosemary and lavender to a quart of an organic safe cleaner. I've made lavender vinegar that worked great too-- with fresh lavender and "brewed" it for a month or so. To mop water I also add a few drops of lemon.

I use EO oils in my vinegar cleaner. I just add enough so the vinegar scent is non-exsisting.

I use Murphy soap on my floors and the scent is well not to my liking. I add peppermint to the basin of water and Murphy soap. There is no residue.

I love vinegar cleaner mixed with EO. Great for boy toilet smell and safe for the kids to use.
