How are You Celebrating Earth Day Today?

We are picking up more sticks, planting flowers and taking all of our saved up recycling to the center today.

I am going to make sure our recycling gets to the curb! Unfortunately, I can't put a garden in up here because we are moving this summer and even if not- it is still freezing most every night.

I will have to plant trees and do other things to help the earth this summer to make up for it!

After work, I'm heading to the nursery to get some more manure and then home to plant my other clematis and maybe the daylillies that lovely Janice brought me on Sunday. Don't know, our weather is still "iffy" but I do have lots of sheets in the rag bag to cover them with (Mary Jane's influence is boundless)...

Working in my flower gardens and cleaning up more around the yard. Then, I will take a walk through the our forest and just appreciate all the beautiful wildflowers and spring changes.

I have 60 little wild roses to plant and a lot of cleaning up to do. The weather here has been quite icky and cold, so I'm waiting a bit to plant, hopefully this weekend will be nice.

I really have been analyzing my own footprint around the house. I have come up with a list that I would like to work on for the next year to "green" my life. A few things...

1. Replace lightbulbs with CFL.
2. Buy 3 more large totes for shopping
3. Changing over metal drinking bottles. I carry mine all the time.
4. Researching an environmental cause for children.
5. Compost
6. Water buckets outside
7. More local/vegetarian cooking
8. Researching solar/wind/gardening/blue jeans isulation options for when we get out beach house.

And a few other things... : )

Cheers,
Heather

We are celebrating Earth Day this Sunday. Our geocaching club is doing one of our Adopt-A-Hwy pickups on Sunday with a picnic and cookout following afterwards. Anyone in the area is welcome to come and join the fun!

Since we still were having snow flurries as of yesterday, we are a bit limited. I did manage to spread some bark shavings over by the fire hydrant today, but most everything else needs to wait. I brought my poor little pony packs inside as they were getting frost bit. Sooooo anxious for warm weather to last for more than a minute!

Hugs & blessings,

Brenda

Oh! Picking up trash on a walk is a wonderful idea! I have a friend coming over today so I need to clean clean clean (with vinegar and water of course! No chemical nasties here!) But since I will have all my chores done for the week- tomorrow I will go pick up trash and make it my goal to have a nicely tidy block! Thanks for the ideas!
