This week we welcomed Aldon Christopher in to our lives. My Nephew Eric and his wonderful wife Carla, had a baby boy, 8 pounds 4 ounces on the 17th and I am thrilled to have bragging rights! Hopefully gonna get to go see them this summer. I'm such a proud great aunt

Annika? did it seem surreal to you.. I am a great Auntie too.. and to me if felt surreal - I remember all my hubby's great aunties coming to baby showers for us.. and now it is my turn...I also remember how old I thought those dear ones were.. and Now..... Oh lordy!

LOL! Rene, I'm only 47 and it feels really odd to be a GREAT Aunt. I'm overjoyed with the baby, but yeah it does feel weird and surreal.

Annika, congratulations. You probably feel over the moon, just like I did when our Max (my godson/nephew) was born. Babies are the best :)

Ha!, Alee, that is what I say every morning in the mirror! but it is true. I just come from a slow ageing long lived family for the most part. But I'm aiming to be fabulous at 50. So age is not daunting me much. It feels weird that my body is ageing , but I'm staying the same ol' quirky me =)

Congratulations! My "second" daughter, my best friends daughter, just had a beautiful baby girl yesterday. She weighed in at 9 lbs. 11 1/2 oz. and is 21 and 1/2 inches long. Her name is Nora Jean after her great grandma's. This must be a good baby month!

Annika,
I said something similar the other day - that basically I still feel 18 and "wild", then I look in the mirror and see my mother...I dont know how it is possible that I have sons 21,20 17, and 11...........I am with you... looking forward to the fabulous 50's..........One of my favorite poems is "someday I will wear purple"..............I think because it described one of my favorite aunties to a T.....anywho.. I know that we are those fun "YOUNG" aunties.... right?.... I did however have to apologize to my mom and some of here friends.. somewhere in my 30s..... for thinking (when I was a teen) they were generic... you know what I mean, I couldnt image them having lives, dreams, interrests they were after all.. MOM's....I was raised in a strict home - so most of my parents friends were Mr. & Mrs so and so..... I remember feeling "shocked" to learn they had actual NAMES.....Now I find I can sit at there feets for hours and learn and gleen....and find myself amazed by thier depth and experiences......
