I found this website not too long ago, and it just occurred to me to share it with all the [farm]girls. The company is called Organic Bouquet, and they offer... you guessed it, organic flowers for delivery.
http://www.organicbouquet.com/
They have some gorgeous bouquets, potted plants, and cute little stuffed animals and gift baskets... and it's all organic! They even offer only recycled glass vases for delivery. Best of all, they're less expensive than some of the bigger, conventional companies.
As an experiment, I compared prices for roses from FTD and Organic Bouquet (O.B.). One doz. premium roses from FTD are $60 before shipping. But O.B.'s one doz. roses cost $50 before shipping. Both companies offer an optional add-on of chocolates and a teddy bear, but O.B.'s chocolates and teddy bear are certified organic (which means their bear costs $5 more.)
It gets better. Two doz. of the same roses from FTD cost $110, whereas O.B.'s 2 doz. cost $70. The only possible downsides I can see to O.B. is it's an additional $13 for the recycled glass vase, and only one choice of vase. But I personally think it's a very pretty vase, and better than pesticides in your loved one's gift and more glass in the landfills. And it's still only $83 instead of $110. I know roses can be rather pricey, but they've got lots of other pretties to choose from, like a bouquet made entirely of blue irises or sunflowers, or lovely organic fruit and/or wine baskets, or, for something longer-lasting: a wreath made of rosemary and bay leaves.
I'd say a few extra bucks in you wallet and a clearer conscience are a welcome thing in this time of skyrocketing prices and plummeting quality.
So, you know that my Mama's getting twice as many [all organic] flowers for Mother's Day, this year. Heck, my bank account and conscience can afford it.

Marie: Very interesting. My best friend lives in Wisconsin, I think I'll send her something organic! Thanks. Marly |

I used this site to send flowers to my grandma for her birthday back in June. Customer service was great, she loved her flowers and they lasted several weeks! The prices on many items were comparable or BETTER THAN other sites! I was very pleased!

Beautiful but way too pricey for me, especially after the S&H is added on.
