'organization' you ever belonged to?
when i was a teenager .. we had a wonderful 'bible club' at our school .. and interestingly enough .. our handsomest 'jocks' and prettiest 'cheerleaders' belonged to it too!
i don't much remember too many clubs or organzations that we all belonged to though.
we had wonderful youth church groups that met every saturday night .. and we had lots of fun field trips .. ha! i've always said these kept me a 'good girl' during my teen years.
(my nannie said NO to my joining a sorority!)

| i don't remember any "organizations" per se.....when i was in 8th grade i was president of a club that made cookies and visited old age homes, and we made out of wire and paper a giant easter bunny and put it in the childrens ward of the hospital....we also raised money and gave it to the hospital. i remember that i liked doing those things.... i was not good in 4-H...sewing is not my thing! |

4-H was my favorite. I learned so much from the 4-H, I haven't signed up my kids into a 4-H club, but am hoping to soon.

My friend Cathy and I had an "exclusive" club called Pasamakwody (don't ask, cuz I have no idea why I picked it). We started our club in retaliation to a popular girls' playground "club" that we were excluded from, aptly named the She-Devils--5th graders!!!!) We held "meetings" on a very large old tree stump that towered over the entrance to the creek near our house, and after the meeting adjourned, we would go fossil hunting. My idea was that the club would be "science" based and that, in the event of a showdown with the She-Devils, we would win with our scientific ability.
No, there was never a showdown :)

I was involved in "Pioneer Girls" which was basically a Christian Girl Scouts. I loved it. We made a lot of crafty things which I was so into. It was also where I sang my first solo, did my first chocolate fondue and made some wonderful friends.

I always looked forward to going to " Awana's"
remember this??
We would several different activities at each weeks meeting..
Bible Verse relays.. where we would memorize & get points & other activities from this..
Games & athletic events.. relay races.. running & sports related..
Songs.. Sing-a-longs.. rounds..
& we would meet up with OTHER area Awana Clubs periodically for our Sporting events.. & Compititions..
& every summer We went to Camp too!
Also like 4H & Girlscouts.. all doing the same things really.. but one would foucus more on a general area..
Awana'a.. The Bible..
4h.. Animals & Planting & Sewing & Cooking..
Girlscouts.. Outdoors.. & Earning Badges!!
Seems as if My Troop was REALLY into earning loads of badges.. & we REALLY
liked to camp!!

Our Church had a group called "Pioneers". We had groups organized by age and we had so much fun! We took trips, made crafts, learned how to grow flowers, learned about the bible and even put on shows for our families. It was great! My sister went to, but she was in a different age group. That was really the only thing I was involved with unless you consider football, softball, and band class..lol

I was very active in 4H, FFA, KY Junior Historical Society, FBLA, and FHA. Oh the memories of growing up in those clubs. Always busy that's for sure along with playing basketball, working on the farm, and holding a part time job off the farm. I don't know how I did it, but those were definitely the best years with tons of memories. I received a Gold Award from 4-H & my American Farmer Degree in FFA & my Power of One Degree in FHA. I could go for days on stories about different projects and events. I can't pinpoint down one thing that I can say as my top memory. Hmm...I'll have to think on that.

I was in the Christian Youth Crusade also. I don't know if they are still around now though. I was in FHA, FBLA, 4-H, Beta club and FFA clubs in school. But my favorite was just the little church youth group we had, it wasn't a club really. We would go skating, to the movies, out to eat and summer camp. It was just a few of us and we all lived in the same community, went to school together and were friends the whole time we were growing up. Living in a rural area it was a great treat to go to the big city of Atlanta to places not available to us in the country. Ahhh, what memories. And just think of the youth church leaders who provided those memories too!

When I was a kid I was in Camp Fire Girls forever and loved it. When we lived in Idaho (I was in 4th and 5th grade) I was in 4H and was SO dissapointed to move away...but was back to Camp Fire girls when we moved back to Calif. I always wanted to do 4H too.
In high school GAA (Girls atheletic assoc.)was about all I had time for...I always had at least one job and a boyfriend to juggle.
