There seems to be a lot of ads going up for farms and "mini-farms" in Washington state, especially Eastern Washington.
Many ads are for 5+ acres, and the first one below is offering from 10-40 acres in the Palouse region? (east of Walla Walla). Pretty decent prices, but not the area I want to be in, so I thought I'd offer it up here to see if someone else might find their bit of earth east of the Cascades.

Too funny! The first listing is on the other side of town from where I live. Hmmm.....my husband wants more land but I don't think he'd pay that much for it.

If only we could stand leaving our extended family. Sounds so beautiful! Very affordable, considering our area is selling for 300K/ acre.....yeah, not a typo. Ouch.

I lived 12 years in the Palouse and LOVED it... but I grew up on a wheat field in NE Washington state.. So that might have something to do with it.. We now live in South Central WA. My husband works with Bolthouse farms ( carrot farm) and I am with the farmers market here... we are wine country.. if youre ever in the area.. land shopping let me know :)

I grew up in Yakima Valley, so I know the area pretty well. Unfortunately for me, I love the water. I NEED to be near rain/large bodies of water/both. I feel parched when I'm in eastern WA in the summer. So, since moving west of the Cascades, I don't think I could happily go back.

I lived over there (Kirkland) for a little while attending NW univercity - but didnt adjust well to all the business and the trees... I guess I like knowing that company is coming ... miles before they actually ge there.. :)

Wow, I can't imagine having a hard time adjusting to trees....but a sister-in-law told me the same thing; she's from Montana. I would never have thought of that, having grown up here. If I don't have some hills or trees around me it just seems too barren. And I need the moisture...rain, bay, rivers, as long as there's water. Even though the humid summers can be too much at times. I just wish land prices over here in western wa would be more affordable. Right now, we are going to have to look outside of our current county as we're priced out of it. We'd love 5-10 acres or more to build straw-bale on, garden, and raise livestock. But everywhere around here is so expensive.

Yea. I grew up in Coulee City WA. which is about 300 +... and the tallest thing that grows there is wheat.....So the trees were a bit daunting for me.. I love wide open spaces... I do love the rolling hills of the Palouse though.. My hubby and I lived in Colfax WtA for about 10 years and I would go back in a heart beat. My husband's family are wheat farmers in Dayton Wa. and we love that area as well.. anyway... Go figure!

Trees daunting, wow...I grew up in them, and thrive on them. I love wide open spaces too...as in the ocean coast! ;) Such differences...
