Wondering if any of yall know anything about where to start and what to look into about buying a business already running for 50 years. ANyone know anything about minority owned business loans, equity in my house, etc? What have yall looked into, tried, etc? I am going tomorrow to probably make an offer and look into financing, and I want to know as much as I can!

Tomorrow I am going to the SBA to look into women/minority owned business loans. Any help from yall would be great!!

ANy tips on writing a business plan??

Cristine,

Though this is a local Grand Rapids, MI organization, I believe that they would be able to point you in the right direction for your area. Go to www.growbusiness.org. They were a great help when I was beginning my Forrester Farm business.

What kind of business are you looking at?

Ann

I know there is all kinds of stuff out there but I wouldn't know where to tell you to look. Good luck in your venture!

Hey Christine, SBA is a good start, and your local chamber of commerce might have more initiatives. Good luck!

SBA is great, they have mentors and advisors to help small business get up and running. There is also a national organization called National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO for short) with local/regional chapters in different states. Check out their website at: www.nawbo.org or call them at 1-800-55-NAWBO.

What type of business is this, and can the current owner help you with some of your questions, or are there similar businesses where you can research info on their websites or sales flyers to help you get going.

Good luck, Cristine - this sounds exciting!

I'm going to second Jo about Nawbo! I sure wish you lived here in Kentucky, Christine...my former boss (and still good friend) is the local chapter president. I'm wishing you the all the best, and can't wait to hear more!!!
