Hi fellow book-lovers. Just checked in to see what everyone is reading lately. I hope some of you will take my suggestion and read Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver. It's a novel about three women, their friendships, their families and farms, and their struggles to remain independant. I promise you a great read here! I have been an obsessive reader since I was a child...there are so many wonderful books out there that 9 out of 10 people have never heard of, so if anyone wants my book list, let me know and I'll share my info with you. Great writing is easier to read than crummy writing; most people just need to know how to find it!

Prodigal Summer has been my favorite book since I first read it six years ago! Since then I get an overwhelming urge to read it every summer-- and I have given it to all of the important women in my life to read! In fact, it was the first gift I gave to my future mother in law. Spread the wealth in booklists-- I'm always looking for my next great read! |

Loved Bean Trees and Poisonwood Bible but for some reason couldn't get into Prodigal. Sometimes I wait a year and try again. But Bean Trees was stunning! Kat. |

I loved Bean Trees and Poisonwood Bible was intensely wonderful. Will pick up Prodigal at the library soon. Thanks! What other authors do you like? I like Louise Erdrich, Anne Tyler, Ellen Foster. . . . Oh, and on the flip side, Janet Evanovich -- sexy, crazy, New Jersey girl bail bondsman -- funny funny and crazy wild! Her series has numbers in the title; I think she's up to 9. Great fun for those who want a witty fun sexy escape read. |

Hey Farm Girls!!!!!
If you like Ann Tyler, Barbara Kingsolver etc, you might also try Jodi Picoult. I loved her book Second Chance.
