Hey y'all,
I'm brand spankin' new to Farmgirls. My man and I ran a veggie farm on his grandparents 10 acres. Their last name was Brown, so to pay homage to them, we named our farm "Brown Knee Farms". We grew many different veggies, herbs and berries, and opened the farm to the public. It was a HUGE success... there is definitely a demand for farm fresh goodies. That lasted 3 yrs, and then his grandmother passed away, and the family split up the property due to prior family in-fighting blah, blah, blah. Alas, as a result, we lost our farm, and all those years of hard work. More importantly, we lost the guests that bought our produce. This was over 2 years ago, and to this day people are STILL asking us when we are opening up a farm. <<SIGH>> Some day, we say. However, with the price of land around here -- Kitsap County, Washington -- we doubt we will ever be able to afford a big enough piece of land. But, we still dream about having our very own Brown Knee Farms.

Anyway, I'm so glad to have found this site and look forward to learning more about being a "farmgirl."

Have a great day everyone!
Kris

Welcome Kris!
Sounds like you will fit right in here and be able to help some of us get started with our gardens.
Enjoy the forum.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome. I went lurking on the message boards after I signed up, and boy have I learned some things already! Forget the fed. gov't, we need farmgirls to run this country!

Happy Farming!
Kris

Hi Kris,

Welcome, and I'm glad you found us! We are in Lynnwood now, in a condo by the freeway, but are moving next week to our new farmstead just west of Spokane. This is a great place for inspiration and keeping hope alive for our farming dreams. It's challenging but fun to find ways to be a farmgirl in whatever circumstances life has given us to deal with.

Enjoy!
Deborah
