A few weeks ago we had a lot on our van repaired and the total was $1,200. I thought that was bad but at least we wouldn't have to put money into it for awhile. Well, guess what? Today while I was driving the hood of the van flipped into the windshield and shattered it!! The front part of the grille broke off as well so it sounds like another $400 or so to put into it. But, I am so thankful that none of us were hurt. I had glass in my lap and on my hands but was not cut at all and I guess I had good enough sense not to slam on the brakes or swerve into oncoming traffic (I was going about 55 mph). Both kids were in the van and I'm nine months pregnant so I guess I can't grumble too much about all this since we all are fine...I've been thanking God for that all day!

Elizabeth- glad you and your family are okay. I was driving behind my dad one day when that happened to him and it was very scary.

I wish that our insurance would cover it but since it is an older van we just have the minimum of insurance on it so it won't help with the windsheild. But my brother recommended a glass man that will come to our house and replace it and I talked to him and he will try to make it out here within a day or two so that is good. I just keep thinking how it could have been so much worse and am thankful we are all fine.

That's crazy! Did the hood break right off? I'm glad you're safe. Cars are frustrating things. Whoever called houses 'moneypits'?
