I saw it last night. Can you believe it??? What kind of 9 year old plans to attack their teacher..??? My 9 year old's only concern is getting better at his magic tricks, watching movies, and playing nintendo ds.. Of course I would be in trouble if he plotted to attack his teacher- as I am his teacher :-) I do blame the parents.. 9 year olds or any age child for that matter should not be thinking of revenge when their feelings get hurt..

I don't even know what to say. I am horrified. I have a 7 year old and 12 year old twins. (my bf has a 15 year old) I cannot imagine any of them plotting or hurting someone in such a way. Sometimes I just want to grab up my kids and live in a cave far far away from this messed up world. |

Wow. I am so thankful to NOT know any 3rd graders like that. Holy cow...that they would even plan all that out and divide the jobs and all..yikes!! For sure I would blame the parenting they get too. Where would they even get those sort of ideas...and if it is from TV I still blame parenting since we have control of what our kids watch.

I was in total shock when I read this in the paper this morning. Where are the parents of these kids? I can't imagine that mine could have come up with something like that at that age, makes me real glad mine are grown. Hugs, Kathy |

My husband and I sat there with our mouths open in total shock when we heard this on the news last night. What are their parents allowing them to watch on TV? Good night! I sure hope that the parents take their responsibility in this situation and really make some changes for their children's welfare. If they are thinking of things like this now, well what will they be doing when they are teenagers?

Oh My gosh! What TV shows are these kids watching? To know they had to "clean up" afterwards? It sounds to me like some families out there need to spend some more time with their kids! I hope and pray that Nora never ever has a thought like that ever in her head!

Ladies, I hate to say it, but in the city, this is actually happening. I've heard several stories that are very similar, and then when you get back to the parents, they are JUST AS BAD and actually defending the kids. I mean, there's a reason that some of these schools have metal detectors here. <Sigh> See why I want to leave here? I mean, I remember a story maybe 3 years ago about a SEVEN year old who bought his FATHER'S gun to school to shoot a teacher he had a problem with. Craaazy!!

Chalk one more up to home-schooling. I wish I could talk DH into it. Also, what kind of shows are these kids watching that put those ideas into their heads?

I'm willing to bet that it wasn't even tv to blame, but things like video games and comic books (I've seen some really disturbing ones).
At least these kids will face consequences. I taught at a very small (200 kids) private school the same year one boy stuck a threatening note to the art teacher's wall with a knife. Because he was from a certain family, he not only faced NO consequences but later that year he made the National Honor Society. Nice, huh?

To me these kids have to have some very serious personality or development problems to begin with. Add some violent video games and lack of or no parenting to the equation and that always leads to problems.Homeschooling is wonderful and I applaud anyone who does it.It is really an awesome responsibility But,not all kids in schools are are a bunch of violent hooligans.Even homeschooled children are sooner or later going to have to go out into the world by themselves and face what is out there. I wish to God we could just put a protective bubble around all of our preciuos children and grandchildren, but we can't. We can only teach them as best as we can and prepare them for the fact that there are some really crazy people out there. It is a scary place for all of us out there.Unfortunately, it always has been just in different ways.
