My spinning wheel arrived on Tuesday. My husband put it together for me quickly.....then I was stuck. Now what. I had never done spinning with a wheel. So after some thinking and playing, I figured out how to thread it. Then I got on the internet and found a website with videos. I think it was the joy of hand spinning. So thought about it some more, and sat down to play. I did it, I am spinning my wool. I don't know if I have too much twist or not, but hey I am happy! I have a Schacht Lady Bug. What a blast I am having. I almost have all my rolags used up, so will have to stop and card more.

I am SO SO SO excited for the two of you........ I taught myself twelve years ago and found my lost voice. The joy and peace I feel when I spin is like coming home..
Just take your time, do not be too hard on yourselves and have fun. If you run into any issues I would be glad to help if I can.
Happy Spinning

Thanks Grace for words of encouragement. I plan on 2 plying my yarn, once my lazy kate gets here. My yarn is so far from perfect it ain't funny, but I love it. My unique novelty yarn is what I call it. I have figured out I need to do a better job on carding. So much to learn, soooo much fun. Hope you find some more fiber soon Sheri! Maryjane Lee, do you spin?

No, I do not spin but I admire those that do! I think it is a lost art, coming back strong!

Everything takes time and remember those less then perfect yarns are all the rage and demand the highest prices. Machines can not make the wonderful living yarns our hands can do so spin away.
Many times I never card my fibers but just lay them in my hands with a several different types and let them take up in their own way. What is amazing about those yarns is it is the least amount of work and I get paid the highest amount for them. I just LOVE my life.
Tonight I hope to post more about my little goat kid in the house - Mishka and the new kids have the most wonderful fleeces and I can not wait to get my hands on them at the wheel but for now I just hug and kiss those tiny little kids.
Keep spinning and making that high priced yarns.

Glad to hear you are having so much fun with your new spinning wheel Michele! I know you're having a grand time of it, especially since it's your own sheep's wool that you are using! Enjoy learning!
