we planted a whole bunch of daffodils all around our property and they look beautiful. i also planted some smaller bulbs that i thought were crocus. anyway, some of the flowers that ended up growing/blooming look just like tulips! are there any variations of crocus that "look" like tulips, or do you thing the bag was mis-labled??? now to the deer part....when i lived up in new jersey, i planted 100 tulip bulbs and the deer came and actually dug them up and ate them like candy! we have deer here, too, (south carolina)..if the bag of "crocus" was actually tulips....well, for some reason the deer either didn't eat them or didn't see them yet. or do any of you know are there special varieties of tulips that deer don't eat?? i would love to buy more, but not if it's going to be a waste of time. are there particular flower bulbs that deer don't eat so that i can have a colorful yard? thanks for any input ladies!!! sue

When we had a big garden years ago we used to spread bloodmeal around to discourage the deer, but you have to apply it after every rain. I thought tulips were poisonous...ah well. Maybe it is daffodils, hmm. I should think they would know at a local nursery maybe? Karin

I have seen some bulb catalogs that will have a little red circle with a deer inside & an X inside the circle, meaning that particular bulb is deer resistant(allegedly) Not sure if that is the case or not, but I have seen it.

Well, luckily for my dh and I, they're not suposed to eat daylilies. And so far, they haven't.

My deer eat anything and everything. They also change their diet likes from year to year. I try to keep the plants I like the best up close to the house and then mix the plants that the nursery catalogs say the don't like with ones I like. I also have to admit that I don't have any problem with my DH or the dog next door watering the perimeters of the garden every now and then.

Deer will not bleeding hearts - they are easy to grow and tolerate a wide variety of weather conditions and seem to like wet feet and shade!
