Ok, so I am going to build a little platform...or actually a big platform bed for my 85lb Boxer (she is starting to have hip problems, so it will only be a few inches off the ground) and I want to make a nice comfy pillow to go on it. What would you recommend for stuffing that is easy to fluff and provides some cushion but is cleanable? Thanks.

Cheers,
Heather

I know they use cedar shaving alot for dogs. And it also keeps away fleas.

cedar shaving wouldn't be washable though and it isn't very comfortable. I gave a bed made with recycled plastic bottles. I bought it at the store though. It is Very soft and washable.

You could also use quilt poly batting or wool batting.

If a pillow form of sorts is made, using a moisture repellent fabric, such as a tightly woven duck, than a cover, it would last a long time. The cover can be secured with velcro and taken off and washed. Check out the pet care catalogs, such as Drs Foster and Smith and they sell this type. I'd make a second cover at the same time, so one can be washed and the other in use. Like putting a duvet on your down comforter. I need to buy or make one for my new chocolate Lab. She curls into the Rat Terrier's small bed and needs one of her own.

I don't know about dog beds, but my cats really enjoyed it when I cut out circles from a foam mattress topper that I had replaced with a memory foam one for hubs and I. That orthopedic type foam is very popular with my furballs. :-)
