I sooooooooooooo hate gusty winds, and living up here in the "West Plains" part of Spokane has it's share.
First I got to experience the worst "snows" in nearly 30 years (according to the locals) and now I have been informed that it pretty much is really windy all the time up here in this part of Spokane. Oh Joy!
I must have used a 1/2 can of hair spray in an attempt to hold my hair in place,,,,nope didn't work, infact it just made my hair gosh darn staticy!
I haven't much choice except to put on a baseball cap & get over it. Wahhhh! I need a martini!!!!

I can feel for you Grace.
I think we live in a wind tunnel at least that's what my family calls the hill we live on. But it beats the flood waters we had at our other house.
We lost power for two days due to the gusty winds here. It was no picnic and we are going get better prepared as going without water was pretty bad. Actually, we went to the lake and got water for flushing and the bottled stuff for drinking, yuck! I hate plastic bottled water. We are going to use our own purifier and get some glass gallon jugs to get prepared as who knows when it will happen again. BTW, lucky us we were one of the only three houses on our street to lose power. And the last to be restored because the area we live in is the least populated.

Gusty winds are not my favorite either, we have had a lot of those lately, and the storm windows are falling apart here so they come right in the house. Ah well, it's fresh air. Today we have freezing rqain, I hate that too, but I'm trying to get my last two blocks finished for the spring quilt block sway. One of my blocks I was unsure of so I asked my daughter about it, and she said "Yup, it doesn't look right'. so next time i'll just ask the cats,I don't get so much negative feedback from them. Martinis are definitely an option...Karin

Don't laugh, I actually put my hair in pigtails the other day, 'cuz I was out picking up paper & trash that blew onto our fence line(we have barbwire across the back, so the trash impales it's self to the wire)....go figure, oh well, it got me outside!
Oh and as of tbhis morning I now have 9 tulips poking their heads up outta the ground! yeah!!!

I'm with you when it comes to wind! We get awful east winds (Santanas) that dry everything out, spread fire and make my sinuses wacky. I'm not a martini drinker, but maybe I'll face the next round of winds (picking up as I write) with a bottle of two-buck-Chuck! Good luck and enjoy the tulips. I'm off to cross Spokane off the where-to-move list....

Living close to the windy city can make it pretty gusty here for us too. Those gusty winds can really bring our temps down in the winter. We get strong winds any time of the year though. It rains or snows sideways a lot here! On those days, I don't bother fixing my hair up too much.
