Blessings Aimee,

I absolutely love your "Motto to Live By" --- AMEN! Farmsister! I've been handicapped since 1994...been through a coma... been through all kinds of things. Through it all, what I've learned is that life is a precious gift and you have to live full-joy, grab for the gusto, it's all an adventure! What a ride, indeed!

I cured my problem with leg cramps with tonic and bananas. I wish I would have known about the soap when I was pregnant.

Okay, I'm going to have to try the Ivory soap thing after reading all these testimonies. I don't have restless legs every night but if I lay in bed awake long enough, it strikes. What has worked for me is to bend my knees so they're pointing to the ceiling and then let them fall to the sides. It seems to relieve the pressure/tension/whatever and I can sleep. Does anyone else do this?

God bless -

I have RLS as well. In researching it I found out that it can be a side effect of anemia and it's genetic. I am extremely anemic and since I've began taking a natural iron supplement (Floradix) my RLS has been much better. I have also stopped drinking teas with caffeine after 1pm. My Dad takes a prescription for his, but it doesn't help enough.

Blessings!

At one point in my life I was taking a certain kind of diet pill. I developed RLS. I didn't realize at first that it was the diet pills causing the RLS. I stopped taking the diet pills and the RLS stopped. About 6 months later, I started the diet pills again. Same thing happened, I developed the RLS again. The diet pills went into the garbage. I haven't had any symptoms ever again.

Some meds actually cause RLS. My husband has had it since he started a medication about 4 yrs ago. They took him of the meds because it causes life threating side effects. And he developed all but 1. And now that he has been off this med. he has no effects of the RLS. But when he did he used icy hot and it worked. Maybe it can work for you.

HI! and thanks for the reminder about the meds. Would it be all right if you told what the med was that caused your hubby's RLS side effects?

I take a lot of meds and already have liver damage from going toxic on several of them, so I'm determined to get rid of the RLS and if I can save what's left of liver, all the better.

Lea, My mother and I both suffer from RLS. We have a bar of soap under the bottom sheet near our feet. I have Caress and I think she has Irish Spring. I have changed the soap only once in the past year. We tell everyone to try it. It has worked well for both of us and for the cost why not try it. We love it. I even told my doctor about it and she said she just heard about it from some one else that day and said she would tell her patients about it.

The bar of soap works really well. Even found an article in a nursing magazine. No body kmows why it works but if does.

Linda Rose,

Are you a nurse? I was an RN, pedi spec., for more than 20yrs before becoming handicapped in 1994.

I've not found any scientist willing to go on record that soap works; all I know is that, as a sufferer of RLS, it works incredibly well. In fact, ever since I started using soap (I have a mitt full of soap chips and I also rub my bed sheets down with soap every night), the RLS episodes have lessened until I haven't had any in just over a month.

What a blessing... and what wonderful relief. I had no idea how much the RLS was messing up my entire life.

Thank you all for bringing this topic and this cure to light.

The soap thing WORKS!!!!! I have done it for years...it does not have to be Ivory, I use a lavender soap which helps with sleeping anyway....i tried it as a lark since Nothing else helped & I really had to get some sleep. How it works I don't know it seems impossible, I have a pharmacist friend who tried it and also said it worked for her.

Sounds like you may be low on potassium; try eating a banana or drinking orange juice every day. That should help.

I, too, keep a bar of soap, wrapped, in my bed. I've been doing this for at least three years. Works like a charm for me. Can't explain why. I never eat chocolate or any kind of sugar after 5 PM. I know I'll be up all night. Hope the soap works for you. Marly

Another thing I have heard that works but haven't tried yet for my own RLS is Valerian root- Anyone tried that one yet?
