I took a step into the world of applique and have started a new quilt for our farm.....each block will represent some part of the farm. I posted pictures on my sewing blog. Any ideas for other blocks?? This quilt will be 4 blocks high and 5 blocks wide and bordered all around with the fabric shown beneath it. I am thinking of using it on our wall. I already have a goat, horse straberry and blueberry block planned, but need more ideas.

What a cool idea! Good for you for taking on something new :)

What about a dog, a heart to represent family (I noticed that appears to be something very important to you), a barn or a cabin like that a-frame house on your property. Have fun with your quilt!

Hi Beverly..I agree with Elizabeth on the dog (Big Newfoundland) idea :) How about an apron, a needle and thread (yes, a sewing project that features images of sewing)...since you seem to do alot of sewing projects...and maybe a flower of some sort? I don't know if your garden includes flowers, but it's just a thought :)

Good luck! Sounds like a great project!

Hey Bev-
I did a family history quilt for our family.
I hand embroidered special "hallmark" times that our family passes on by oral history when the quilt is out. Yes we use it- but mostly during a special homecoming for one of the kids or something like that.
In the middle is a huge oak tree with 5 large branch sections where I embroider each marriage and then each child born. Another never ending job.

You will love applique- I know I do. I have a lot to learn but I am really enjoying learning it!!!

Blessings,
Autumn

Ok, if I would have LOOKED instead of just reading, I would have seen that "duh, Jonni" she's already got Bees! That said, I second the Newfie and I'm thinking that you should do one of your house, itself, or make one that represents the two families that work the farm--you and your husband and in-laws. Maybe 2 houses with a heart and plow or something like that....goofy sounding right now, but that's the direction I'm headed

Tractor? Special car or motorcycle? How about a "crafting" square or specifically an "apron" square? Or a "Poetry" square? Or something about the state or city where you live?
