Just a couple of thoughts for those who like the taste of fennel:
Try Jonni's (Kygurlsrbest) recipe for Soupe au Pistou in a Kitchen posting.
Also, I started adding ground fennel seeds to my tuna fish salad about 20 years ago, learned that trick from a TV sitcom. Of course I had to try it after one of the characters teased the secret ingredient out of the TV Mom ... I want to say it was "My Two Dads" but not guaranteeing it.
Anyway, yesterday I had a fennel bulb ready for Jonni's soup recipe and since we were also having tuna sandwiches for lunch, I used some of the minced fennel bulb instead of fennel seeds. Yum ... it's a little softer/less crunchy than celery would be. A nice mild addition.
Fennel, anyone?

Agreed, Jo. I'll have to try fennel seeds in the tuna...sounds like something I might like--ESPECIALLY if it was on My Two Dads (loved that show!)
I love the taste of fennel, though, and anise and black licorice, etc...I like the texture, too. It's a very nice, easy vege (herb) to work with, especially once you know the in's and out's.
