Hi, I am just a VERY beginner at making soap (I've only done 3 batches) and I'm scared to ask my question on a soapmaking forum website, due to the disdain they seem to have for beginners . So here's my question for you kind people My husband is really wanting me to make coffee soap, since he's a fish farmer and often is quite stinky. Coffee soap seems to do wonders for getting his hands not to smell like fish or worse, rotten fish. So I tried to do some. It doesn't look like coffee, more like cafe au lait, or more disgusting. I know it has to dry for several weeks still, but I'm a bit discouraged on it. Any tips? Thanks for your time! |

Did you include the grounds or did you just replace the water amount with coffee?
I suggest putting the grounds (fresh not the ones used to brew the coffee) into the bar, or even whole beans. This will make it a richer soap and give more of the beneficial coffee smell.

Sheila, just use fresh coffee grounds~the lye monster usually kills any properties the brewed coffee would give. On the soaping forums~use their search feature first to try and find your topic question, as it's probably been asked a plethora of times before. It can get frustrating for newbies to ask questions (been there)just to get pounced on. Did you try the Candletech forum? I've found it to be more friendly overall.

So Bonne, do you mean just make a regular soap and put coffee grounds into it rather than using the coffee as well? Thanks! |
