I was looking at a business catalog for jewelry displays and decided to just make my own today. This is first one. Gonna refine the next ones a bit and use diffent fabrics. I will have to find an eyelet fabric for the more Victorian pieces and I have some tribal fabric just perfect for ethnic pieces.I cut pic of cardboard and then stuffed fiberfill around it and put a old heavy ceramic pot inside it for a stand. It wil be heavy enough to be an outside craft faire display now
Lisa, Have you seen the Duct Tape dress forms that you make yourself? I wonder if something like that would be good to show off your work? Since you are so industrious maybe you can let me know how it works. You could still drape them with your fabric of choice. I'm impressed that you did this yourself instead of buying the (expensive) forms! Neat idea! Rhonda
I will sing at the top of my lungs, and I will dance even if I'm the only one...
I have never seen the duct tape forms but i bet they would be easy to do one up. I love duct tape. I have seen clothes made from it and it is neat . These darn things are kinda expensive to buy --when i looked at buying 5 and paying over 50 bucks --i was like "NO WAY" I am gonna play with making a "head" and some "hand" ones also. I may just do a long tube for the bracelets if the hand one looks too chunky .I wish i had a pair of those long leather gloves one wore with dresses --they would be perfect !! I am snowed in today and dont have to work til tuesday now .
Here is the one i made this morning with the fabric i got from Bonne in a barter. The denim was just perfect for my country designs. The rounded shoulders give it a more elegant look.
I just finsihed one with the denim with the pink flowers you sent me. Really cute. I cant decide on what fabrics to use for 2 more. The fabrics are more decorative than i should use though. They take away from the neckalces.
Who needs a foam head for displaying headpieces when an old blue jean leg works instead. I was trying to make things harder than i needed to --i just needed to go simple instead. It wil make my booth look unique this way.I have lots blue jean pieces i can use for this
"Weird projects are todays goals " Since i am snowed in today --i am going for randomness in my sewing. This will be a pet bed. It isnt meant to be "pretty" --I am simply using up denim pieces and the applique is pieces of fabric left over from cutting horse heads out. Not going for any pattern with the pieces --just dont want to throw them away cause i think the fabric is neat I will use the yarn tats to put it together and will add more color to it.
I think i will go with some narrow flat pillows for the bedroom to display my bracelets on. I will make more for the booth as display. This whole simple pilow thing is working well for me . This one looks alot prettier in person. The fabric is a vintage piece from a burmese tunic that fell apart.
