Boy has it ever been a long winter, and I'm absolutely dying for those first sale signs
Anyone else a yard sale addict? I even rented a storage unit so I can switch goodies around sometimes. I'm the clutter queen, dead serious. I really need to get a bunch of stuff to the unit so I have room for more...pity me

I love yard sales. I'm going to be on the lookout for some baby stuff this season.

I have to brag that here in So. Cal the yard sales AND the Farmers Markets run all year long. It is HEAVEN!

Linda, you tease! How can you be so cruel...and can we come to visit?

I'm also waiting with baited breath Annika! I'm tired of snow & more snow! Even the thrift stores are looking sad this time of year.

I need to "host" a garage sale as well!

I'm so envious of you, Linda! Yard sale season looks a hundred years away today - 4 inches of snow possible tonight! :(

Two towns around here are having garage sales at large venues the weekend after this. I hope I have time to go to at least one of them- would love to make it to both.

we don't have very interesting yard sales around here, I am not all that particular either. Years ago I used to go on yard sale adventures with a loony friend of mine named Dave. He is the king of yard sales. He collects screws, nails, wingnuts, metal things that he has no idea what their purpose is(the man loves to polish}. The last time I went on a tear with him he haggled for half an hour with someone about some kind of wobbly kitchen chairs, and after he got the seller down from 50 dollars a chair to 15, he said, nah I guess I don't want them that bad. I was surprised the guy didn't clobber him. Later that same morning Dave's big score of the day was a huge box of rusty steel wool. It's worth $50 he screamed at me, and I got it for 5! He would gladly stop at any sale featuring old rusting cans of nails, broken tools etc. My daughter has been living at home again for a few months, and every time she's with me if I spot a yard sale or a junk store and the car starts swerving toward it she calmly says - Don't make me kill you. We have a huge barn here filled with boxes of who knows what from when we moved here six years ago and then junk that my mother had saved and on and on....Of course my children are magpies as well, they just haven't stored up enough junk yet...Nothing more fun than the possibilities...Karin

You can come anytime! But here's the catch...the deals are harder to find. There's a lot of dealers that get really abusive with sellers here so a lot times people aren't into making some serious bargains.
They can be found though, there's an area her called "The Palisades" where a lot of movie stars live and the garage and estates sales there are amazing! I have got some SERIOUS deals. Like anything you have to be willing to spend the time and barter your stockings off!
Always worth it though.

I am soooo ready for yard sale season. It's getting warmer here, and by the end of the month we should start seeing signs going up! Mind you, I am in need of nothing, but like Annika said, it's the thrill of the hunt.

It'll be late April for us, but we have great yard sales here and I've found one-in-a-million bargains. This year it'll be mostly crafting, sewing and yard and garden gear for me.

Alright, Miss Wilma. Yet ANOTHER day you'll be getting a visit from me!

I have a confession, I don't like to go to yard sales around here because, well, usually it's just crap..and the people who have them are usually weird...I can't honestly say I've ever come up with something really fabulous, just weird looks, or the "itches". There's a new trend around here, too, that people having yard sales also sell food like hotdogs and hamburgers from the grill. Um, excuse me, but I don't know you, I'm buying stuff for a quarter at your house that you've drug out (for the 10th time) from your basement, and I'm not sure I want to buy food prepared by a total stranger without a license. Maybe I'm a bit touchy...I'd just rather thrift, it's MUCH less personal :)

Grace I used to live up in Altadena, We had some fine times at that flea market and junkin' in general.
Wilma I'm comin' to your place for the 4th. I keep askin' myself "WHY don't I live in Kentucky??????" Heehee, I don't know how on earth I'd get it all home, but it sure sounds fun.
Jonni....just EEEEWWWWWWWW! I'd never eat anything from a junk sale. EEE-YUCK!

Annika-

We are seriously going to have to have that garage sale! I have car tires, lawn equipment (Folding chairs, and gardening tools) a couple hoses that I don't feel the need to take with me to Montana, a sprinkler, an electric lawn mower with power cord long enough to mow the whole yard and I am sure I can dig up clothes, books, maybe a piece of furniture or two.

I have a huge backyard- I could clean up all the doggie messes and we can set up back there and put balloons out to draw walk-in customers...what do you think?

I know, right? My other favorite is the goofball who lives next store to me...she takes advantage of the other people WAY up the street who take time to post signs for their yard sales, and knowing full well that they have to turn around down at our end, halls junk out to the yard where it sits for a week or more. I've overheard her telling a potential "customer" about a pair of acid washed jeans from 1982, when asked about the price, "oh, I spent a bunch a' money on them when I first bought em, so I need to get at least $8.00 out of em" and the customer puts them back in the box where they will stay for another year. She also tells people, "if that don't work, just bring it back and I'll give you your money back". Oh, and she sells food :)

CLASSIC.

I am a yard sale addict, too! Nothing I like better than a country drive and "happen" upon a yard full of goodies. In my younger more foolish years, I've been know to do a U turn on a 4 lane ... all for the joy of a yard sale! Now I just drive a mile down the road and turn around! LOL But I still HAVE to turn around!

Jonni, you crack me up!

I am going to be. I need to "decorate" my house a little more..not a lot...but I am looking for a few specific things at great prices. I feel like my home is boring and flat...I need some texture and color.

Cheers,
Heather
