Flemish rabbits, I think, are the large meat rabbits and yes, they are HUGE! I've seen them, unfortunately, mostly at the live slaughterhouses around the city...we've (the vet place I've worked at) used to help rescuers when they went in there and pulled them out. They are usually very docile, LARGE, and some have unbelievably soft fur.
We've neutered a few at my vet clinic that I work at. He was 6 months old and 20 lbs, and still growing. He hated me and would growl and stamp his back feet whenever I came near his cage. When I tried to go into his cage so I can give him his pre op shot he charged the cage door and scared the heck out of me. I guess he knew I was going to give him a sleepy shot and the next step was his neuter. I'm sure he didn't want to lose those. The owners came to pick him up after a short stay with us and they said he was the sweetest rabbit to them. They can put him on his back and he would just fall asleep as they pet his belly. He seemed to like them alot. Me, well he hated me.
