Hi everyone,
I am interested in learning how to make soap. I have made the melt and pour for years, but I am quite intimidated with the lye soap. Does anyone have a recipe that I could use that does not include lye or is lye a given? I have books on the subject, but I have never actually talked to anyone who has done it. Any help or tips are greatly appreciated. And if lye is a given, can someone please tell me a good website that I could use for supplies. Please feel free to email me if you would like. Thanks so much, Marcy

Could you make goat milk soap? I need to buy some in bulk for my egg customers, who just can't understand why I can't make goat milk soap. After all, we have a goat. Never mind that *he* is not likely to cooperate with their goat milk soap needs, lol.
I haven't found much bulk available online...any ideas or extra goat milk soap out there?

I make goat milk soap darlin'... and btw- lye is a given. But it isn't in the soap anymore after saponification. When it's all done there's no lye, and natural glycerine is there. If you "cook" it it will be cured right away. I do it cold process with raw milk and keep my temps way down to preserve the good raw milk qualities and have to let mine cure longer.

Dayln, your site is great, you obviously put a lot of care and pride into your products. Something every farmgirl should aspire too (though I gotta admit the thought of lye in my kitchen kinda freaks me out!). I'm rounding up some customer requests...will be in touch via e-mail soon.
Good luck with your quest Marcy! |

it ain't easy anymore. You ca nget it from Brambleberry, or I think from Lehmans online? I found one small farm & garden place that still sells 100% lye!! yahoo.
Just google it, there are places online. YOu have to send in a waiver though. Not a big deal really, but a pain.
