I still haven't received my peas from Seed Savers, though I was told that I would have by now....BUT, additionally, I ordered in December, my potatoes. Received a confirmation, and then today, received a VERY random "shipment" email that had no order information whatsoever, and none of the order numbers or anything match my original order. When you email back and ask questions, they don't respond, or they respond with a curt 3 word answer (I realize it's a busy time, though) I just find their system a little "confusing"....anyone else?

I was also thinking of their shipping costs. I ordered 12 seed packets and they charged me $9.00 for regular old ground shipping...that seems excessive in light of my shipping when I sent out my BWOB seed swap (.58 cents).

Just curious if anyone else has had any issues with Seed Savers...don't get me wrong, I like their message and what they do, but I'm having some "thoughts"....which can always be dangerous

Jonni I am sorry to hear this because I just placed a very big order today from them and I will be very upset if that happens this late in the game. Last year I never got my pepper seeds started and I looked everywhere for pepper plants and there were none to be found around here in SW Va or into NC. I like to make sure that I have everything I could possibly grow in my space and climate and it's gutwrenching to not get the seeds that you planned on having. I guess we should just be thankful for what we do have though.

Has anyone else had trouble with thier orders from SSE?

Jonni,

I just checked my order from Seed Savers and I have peas, along with all of the other items I ordered. Have you contacted Seed Savers about the missing peas?

I sure did, Donna. I was told that the type I ordered (Green Arrow) were on "back order" and that they were to be shipped March 15. Well see....I asked if I needed to get something else and was assured that my order would stand. I also have coming next week $70 worth of heirloom potatoes, so I'm hoping they all come in, too. Like I said, it was strange that, when I ordered these items in January, everything was in stock and no mention of back order.

Becky, I hope everything comes in for you! I "count" on things and sometimes am disappointed. I wish you many peppers this year :)

You might want to take a look over at
http//www.seedsofchange.com if they do not have something or if it is on backorder you will see it before you add it to your shopping cart.
they have organic seeds - I just placed a nice order for mostly medicinal seeds and some flower seeds.

I have never had a problem at SSE. ever. even if something was on back order I always got everything I ordered. I really don't deal with anyone else.

I didn't have a problem in the autumn when I ordered my garlic, but this time, I'm a little bit disappointed...I ordered from them this year because last year I ordered from Bakers Creek and a had some trouble with seed germination. Since I had such good luck with my garlic I had no problem ordering again....just hoping it all works out. Next time I'll order over the phone to save email confusion.

I "Will" call you that, because it's such a LOVELY name! I really like the catalog and the business, but I am a super consumer, so I'm picky, right? Can't help it.

Jonni- I hate to hear that you have had such problems. We ordered from Seed Savers at Christmas (for my present) and we got all but a packet of cucumbers and a packet of beans. Both came within a few weeks. We also had ordered potatoes and they came last week. I hope that yours have arrived by now so that you can get started!
I planted up seed trays last week and I already have some rather healthy plants growing. In fact, they are ahead of schedule and the garden is not ready for them yet!!
Happy planting.
