This was my first one. It was a 6.3 in Wells, NV. I was at work, sitting in my chair talking to a co-worker who was standing at my desk. My chair started wiggling even though I was sitting still. I asked Terry if she felt something and she wasn't sure. We heard the building make a cracking noise. Then we noticed all the blinds on the windows were moving sideways. Later, we went outside and saw that the huge ice flo on a neighboring roof had finally broken off and was on the ground.
Debra, Ronna are you gals ok?

It was all over the news here..but our news is out of SLC. I didn't feel it at all. WElls is in the northeast part of Nevada...not far from Wendover it looked like when they showed it on tv. THere were much smaller ones near Lovelock too.

Hi Ladies, Sorry, didn't see this posting last night when I was online. No, we didn't feel the earthquake. My son, who lives in Ogden, Utah, closer to it than us, called me about an hour after. He'd heard it on the radio, hadn't felt it either. I called my daughter in Winnemucca, maybe 100 miles or so from it and she slept through it...doesn't surprise me, she slept through all 3 big ones when we lived in SoCalif. The direction of the fault lines must have not been close to us. Nevada is the most prevelant state for earthquakes, though Alaska and CA have more over a certain number on the Richter scale. I've been checking the website and they've had some 4.0 aftershocks, enough to get their attention I'm sure. My husband, Larry, was actually born in Wells. His parents had a ranch in nearby Montello and she stayed at a boarding house in Wells when it was nearly time for him to be born...at the doctors office. Still a small town, about 1300 residents, two truckstops and two brothels. I thought it rather funny for the Reno paper to make note of those facts. We are about 50 miles southwest of Lovelock, see there have been corresponding shakers along that area and towards Fallon, 30 miles south of us since the one in Wells. Someone last week was asking me if we had flood insurance, after the big canal break a few weeks back. I said no, but we have earthquake insurance. The people thought that silly, until I explained how many quakes this state has every year. We even changed insurance companies when Allstate quit writing earthquake insurance here...and my husband hates to pay insurance on anything, but felt we should have it. Ronna |

I'm in Boise and a lot of folks felt it pretty good here. I didn't actually feel it myself, but several of my coworkers did. They said the lights hanging from the ceiling were swaying back and forth. Friends and spouses were calling asking about it, and a lot of people noticed it when their blinds started slapping up against the windows and objects on the tables started sliding. One lady wanted to know what the government was up to when she heard it was out of Nevada. LOL Anyway, I do hope nobody was injured in it--earthquakes can be scary!
