...is wafting up from our basement.
We had some sweet boys (The Walk-off) from Cincinnati here since Friday night to record their cd. As they were hauling gear out tonight, Dramatic Habits was hauling gear in. My guys are here practicing now.
How many people get live music right at home? I am a lucky girl.
I will sing at the top of my lungs, and I will dance even if I'm the only one...

I grew up with this sort of thing, my father being a professional musician. I love having live music in the house!

That's really neat to hear Elizabeth! From what I've "seen" of you I am somehow not surprised!  What sort of music does your father play?
It IS wonderful to have all that music and all those boys in the house. I cooked and made up beds all weekend, but was handsomely "paid".

| Do you have a studio? I'd be interested to hear about the set up. My husband has all his recording gear in our spare bedroom, as our basement is unfinished and damp. But the basement is definitely the place to muffle your drums for the neighbors, if possible! We practice in ours, but can't record there. |

My husband plays much more around the house now, that he stopped playing out with his band. He's actually working on material and it's been very nice to hear new songs and new ideas coming from him--he was pretty jaded there for a time and didn't enjoy playing or writing music at all. I love to hear him strumming that vintage Gibson Gospel guitar on a Sunday afternoon :)

We have drumming here-that is djembe and other hand drums, as well as dijeridoo, zillar, and other wind instruments...quite often in fact. Suppose to tonight too :) depends on how cold it is though...s'poseta be pretty darn cold out today and colder tonight than last night...

My father is a drummer and percussionist. He plays everything from jazz to musicals to symphony concerts. I was very fortunate to grow up in such a musical family. My mother's people have got a fair share of music in them too!

It's so wonderful to hear about allllll of your musical households! Jonni, glad to hear hubby is playing again. Mmmmm...Gospel on a Sunday afternoon! Tasha, I LOVE drums...tried to play a few times but turns out I can't keep a beat to save myself! And Bridget, I agree...A home needs music! Growing up I was the only one who even listened to music. Dad was constantly yelling "Turn it down!" LOL
Amie, my son has a studio of sorts. Two upstairs bedrooms full of equipment. He runs Pro Tools on an Apple computer and has all his own instuments, mikes, speakers, etc. I can't tell you the specifics of his setup, but can find out if you are interested. I know he usually sends cds out to be mastered & pressed. Bands can go to our basement for more room when needed. That's the practice area, and it's roomy & dry. They run a huge cord (snake?) down both stairwells, very convenient. And we live in the boonies, so no neighbors to bother. I think they used every sleeping bag & blanket we owned to muffle sound. LOL I really don't mind. it's fun to meet new people and have them here. My granny passed on the hospitality gene so if they come I have to Mother them!
I'm really looking forward to their first show (out) with this group of guys.

Ooo- I love hearing live music. We have some talented neighbors that get together a couple of times a week to practice. I really love hearing them play, and Nora is so used to it that it never wakes her up! :D

Music has always been big in my life, whether it is listening or singing along. Pretty much every night my hubby is playing on one of his ole Fender guitars. Back in college a group of us would get together pretty regularly and have jams. Oh the good ole days!
