we're having lots of fun with the 'question game' ..
one of the 'heavier' ones today turned out to be: "if you could spend 24 hours with one person who is no longer living .. who would it be .. and what would you want to find out?"

that opened a lively discussion (interesting .. it often turned out to be one of our parents!)

i thought of one that i'll ask the girls tomorrow: would you rather have 'beauty or brains'? and why? i'm betting 'brains' will mostly win out ... but i'm curious to see if anyone chooses 'beauty' first? how's about your gurlz? (oh .. and it has nothing to do with your 'kindness' or anything like that. jus' simply would you rather be reeeeeeeeeeeeely pretty or reeeeeeeeeeely smart?)

Can I be REALLY smart & average looking? As long as I don't have two heads, I'll take smart...Course two heads are said to be better than one. ;)

I will sing at the top of my lungs, and I will dance even if I'm the only one...

I'll take brains if that means I would no longer be absent-minded!

I would take brains over beauty.....but I would not want to be 'butt ugly', but acceptable average looking. Brains would give you a leverage of overcoming any faults and working with what you have, but beauty only fades in time.

I would pick brains too. With all those smarts you could figure out how to look a little better, but with beauty and it fades away, you would still be not so smart and then not so beautiful.

You can never have enough friends.

I would take brains too..then I could use my mind to give myself a makeover. Beauty really is only skin deep-or as deep as the foundation can get!! LOL

Aren't women wondeful!! All of us are brainy already to be able to figure out if you choose brains then you can come up with the answers to being prettier!! Me too.

I'd rather be pretty.
I think life in general is easier for people who are attractive, and I think people are more apt to like you if they think you are pretty. It's been my experience that the pretty girls - even the horrible, mean ones - are more popular and go further with less work than average girls. There's even been studies that show that pretty women advance faster in their careers and make more money than other women.
I am not pretty, so I made myself smart through hard work and discipline. In the end, the pretty girls who got C's ended up with the same degree as I did with my A's, and it looked like they had a lot more fun along the way!

Actually, I saw on one of those magazine shows that it IS true; people, even small children, act more favorably to someone they think is "pretty"...it doesn't matter if the person is necessarily smart. Hmmm...scary.

Oh boy Frannie, why does it have to be one without the other?

That said, I like smarts. I really like learning and using that knowledge for something. Plus, when I'm 60 and it's all gone downhill, you at least have some respect for your wisdom f

Brains...because if I really am smart I'll know that it is my heart that makes me beautiful not my face.

How about pretty smart? Just kidding - I think Jessie has a point. So much of our self-esteem (whether it's right or not) is wrapped up in how people treat us when we're young. I think if your self-esteem is good, then you have the confidence to tackle the world. I know, I was smart in school, (well, to say I got really good grades) but that didn't make up for the bad feelings I had about myself because I was told I wasn't "as good as the other girls" or that my "stomach stuck out like a shelf". I would have given up a 4.0 any day for a compliment when I was a teenager.

I have often wondered if I had been complimented, even a little bit more, as a young girl, how that would have affected my confidence in myself. Even to this day, I know I am more than capable of doing the job but still struggle some with the "right" look or fitting in "physically" but usually, this dissipates after a few weeks of being somewhere or even lessens as I get older.

Cheers,
Heather

I'd stick with the brains. I'm not a "pretty" girl and that's okay with me but I do wish I had a little more in the brain department. Not that I think I'm stupid or anything I'd just like a little more oomph ;) Life could be easier if I were more pretty but I think of all the things I might have missed out on had my life going a different path and I realize I'm good with how I look...not saying I've never had those moments of vanity wishing I looked different-I don't know that there are many people, women especially, that can say they've never wished something was different about their looks.
