Just had to stop to vent and whine . . . poor Grace (Katmom) has heard it all far too much from me! LOL!

I moved to a cute little shop during the holidays and cleaned and painted for a month, opening for the first sale on Jan. 18th, which was rediculously snowy that weekend and really limited people. Then I have tried to open several other "non-advertised" days. Mother nature seems to have a sarcastic sense of humor . . . I put out the signs and she puts down the snow.

Now, this weekend, I am having another advertised sale and the forecast, which was originally "warm and slushy" has now turned to snow, snow and more snow. So I will hire it plowed, my sweet hubby will lay twenty 80 lb. bags of traction sand. The next day it will be snowed over again. If I am lucky I might have enough hard core customers to pay for the plowing and sand, but likely not. The weekend after this, I am participating in what they call the "Desperate Housewives" sale, with four other shops. It cost over $500 just to participate. If it snows again . . .

I am so frustrated and if there was someone I could "take down" over this I would. LOL!

Okay, this concludes my emergency whine session. We now return to you regularly scheduled farmgirl chatter.

Hugs & blessings,

Brenda

Brenda- I will be hoping and praying that it doesn't snow for you! The Chinook is blowing today, so lets hope it melts all this snow away for you!

Brenda, What kind of shop do you have? I keep hoping that someday I'll make it to Spokane for some shopping. It's too long of a trip for the baby yet! DH and I have been talking an overnite trip. I have cabin fever somethin' fierce!

Oh, Brenda, what a shame. It's so hard to start a business anyway, but when Mother Nature interferes it would be extemely frustrating. At least you still have your sense of humor!

Brenda,
silly goose, I live for your "Lucy" episodes!!!(inside giggle)
I am just floored at these winds, 40-50mph and we keep losing satilite reception...uugghh!
Maybe you need to turn your cute little shop into a "Martini Bar" right about now I suspect you would get a ton of customers who also are sick & tired of this snow/winds. I suspect firemama & I would be racing to the parking lot! lol!
Hugz girlfriend,,,,it will get better,,,won't it,,,???
I probably won't get out this weekend but hopefully I will be out next weekend. I have a SOTF luncheon to attend on the 19th so the weather has got to get better!
But on 3/1 we can all sit around painting our little ashtrays and vent about this years weird weather while eating yummy panini's, count me in!

Hi Brenda,
I want to come by once it's a little nicer. Sorry... Say it isn't true about more snow this weekend!! We can't see out our front window. There's a mountain of snow. I forget where the new shop is. Is it near Sprague?

Well, the wind was terrible but the snow didn't come today, so hopefully the weather men were wrong. I will spend about an hour in the morning before my sale driving all over the parking lot in my truck to pack it all down. Poor farmgirl version of a snow plow! LOL! Anyway, if the snow holds back like it did today, maybe people will actually venture out.

Grace, I am considering adding lattes down the road, but I am just not sure breakables and martinis mix! I could have used one the other night with my teenager's escapade! LOL!

For those of you who asked about my shop, it is called Past Blessings Junk Warehouse and I sell antiques, hand painted furniture, home decor, primitives and other "needful things." I just learned how to make wonderful soy candles which I did in old blue mason jars with zinc lids, so I am excited to see how those will do. I have went home each day smelling like whatever kind of candle I cooked up . . . cinnamon buns, grandma's kitchen, etc. Kind of makes me want to nibble on myself, LOL! It is located at 11210 E. Dishman-Mica Rd. It is about 3 1/2 miles S. of Sprague avenue. Dishman-Mica does run South so my East address throws people. There is a curve in the road so for some reason they changed it to east, just to thoroughly confuse people. If you are coming from the freeway, Argonne Rd. turns into Dishman-Mica once you cross Sprague. It is a little "grange looking" white building with a bright red metal roof. Hope to see you farmgirls there!

Thanks for letting me whine. If the snow will just hold back I will be oh so happy!

Hugs & blessings,

Brenda

I think you have to stop scheduling events and have secret surprise ones instead--to outwit old man winter... :)
Best wishes for an early spring!

hmmm . . . secret sales?! LOL! How will they know to come?

I did the first day of my weekend sale and it absolutely sucked, as far as sales and attendance goes. The wind was awful and kept blowing down my sandwich boards so I am sure I looked closed at least half of the day. My oldest son will go and hang with me tomorrow and will have "sign duty" to keep the darn things upright.

But, on the plus, I did get lots of projects worked on and a few completed. I am gearing up for next weekend's "Desperate Housewives" sale. I am sure that one will be a huge success. At least that is what I keep telling myself. I am having a blast making primitive Easter baskets . . . not all of us are "pink" Easter girls, so I am creating more earthy looking decorations.

Thanks for the well wishes. I just have to tough it out to Spring. I also need more permanent signs . . . but need to dig posts, which would mean no snow . . .

Hugs & blessings.

Hey Brenda,
Don't let the wind get the best of you.....tonight is pretty calm compared to the past week so hopefully it will be calm tomorrow & the crowds will be beating down your door! lol!
Latte's,,,,hmmmmm?????? I might even do "sign duty" for a Latte" lol!
I am staying put though, on tonights news they said Airway Heights, Cheney, Cheawela, etc, are in a state of emergancy, limited phone service & extreamly bad roads....gosh, I thought we were getting better....
You be very careful driving to your shop.
