I make trellises out of saplings and pruned branches. I'm going to start driving around town next weekend to look for brush piles on the curb. I can't afford to put up a privacy fence around my backyard (would have to take down 2 huge trees just to start) so I'm growing a privacy screen by putting these trellises up against my chain link. So far, I've got one for my honeysuckle and one for my roses. I used to put up bean poles along the other fence, but this year I'm going to make more trellises and try some hop vines.

I had built a twig fence and arbor for my veggie garden a couple years ago. I put in rock steps inside the arbor because the veggie garden is higher than the rest of the back yard. I have one picture on my blog of it covered in snow. MaryJane took a couple pictures of it when she was here last September. I haven't seen those pictures yet; she's been really, really busy. But I bet they turned out better than any I've ever taken!

Then we built a short little fence out of cheap lathe and painted it red. It borders the grass in the back yard to keep the dogs out. We also built a rock retaining wall in the back yard with railroad ties for steps going up to the upper level where dh built a bench out of logs next to the stream we built.

That's all I've made so far. all the other decorations are mainly rocks, bowling balls, and an old dredge bucket in my flower beds.
