Thought I'd share this website with those that are wanting to begin the process of becoming a certified organic farm
This is a 15 hour online course offered by the Rodale Institute.
http://www.tritrainingcenter.org/course/

If I had a farm this information would come in handy...but alas I live in the city..and have city water and irigation and the city sprays for mosquitoes..and so forth..so ..anyhow..it's a program with lots of good info..very informative even if you don't wish to become certified organic there is still lots of info about soil/soil type/cover crops/farm management/business plans/selling and marketing at farm stands...etc.

I'm definitely bookmarking that website and sharing it with a few folks that I know. Even if you are not/can't go organic, the information on the various topics is very good. You wouldn't believe how many people don't know how to do a business plan to market their product or how to do some of the things mentioned.

Thanks for sharing that Tina!

exactly..that's why I shared this..so much good info even if one doesn't get as far into becoming "certified organic" there is still lots of information that can be applied to any farm or to those like myself that "grow in the city"
For me..where I am at..in the city...the water itself wouldn't qualify most likely..ha.
And then add to that the fact that the city sprays for mosquitoes every month or so..and who knows ?? what is in that stuff?? Then all the other pollutants that float around, plus a paper mill nearby..within about 5 miles or so from my house..uggh...yuck.
So I was left thinking to myself..is it even possible to be "certified organic" in the city if you use city water?..and have all these factors against you to begin with?I can at least try to implement a few of the ideas set forth on the website at least....and hope for the day when I have a few acres in a much more cleaner air and cleaner water type environment.

Anyhow.....the site is a good wealth of info..I hope you all enjoy it.
