I know I said we wouldn't do it, but I had to cave...we are starting two businesses and one of them involves a LOT of travelling...so we caved and got to mobiles. But it turns out that our mobile plan, a basic land line and our DSL is cheaper than our landline with long distance and DSL...so economically it works out...oh boy.

well we are being nerdy and having fun with them now, so we'll see. We didn't get anything fancy. they have cameras and take video and apparently can surf the web, but we dont use that kind of thing so I dont see using it (except maybe the camera phone-I do take a lot of pictures...) as for sustainability it is cheaper than our landline, so it is sustainable to our finances for sure. As for being connected, i am not above turning it off when I don't want to be found....

so begins the cell phone journey...here we go!

i didn't want a cell initialy, but now i prefer it to a land line (i don't even have a landline). all calls to my fam are free since they are on the same network and i adore text messaging. it allows me to send quik ideas or information with out speninding 15 mininutes on small talk. i also text photos of the kids to the fam so they can feel more involved in our lives. alos, i am bad about remembering numbers and my cell takes care of that problem by remembering them for me. i also love the alarm feature, i set it to go off 5 minutes before i have to go out the door and it helps me to get where i'm going on time (i know, my friends tell me that's what a clock is for but i hate clocks and the concept of time so i only have one clock in the house).

the short of it is...i think you'll really like your cell. good luck with it.

My husband swore he'd never get one. When we started dating it was time for me to upgrade my phone so I got him one too. Now he uses it more than I do.

I can't imagine how people on farms lived without one. If he breaks down or needs something, he doesn't have to hike miles and miles anymore - he just calls someone to come pick him up.
