I need inspiration!!!!!
Please share your tips and links to all the fabulous maternity clothes that I could make if I wasn't sleeping all the time instead of sewing!
My last pregnancy I made ALL my clothes and I looked great (it was a different season - that's why I'm not just wearing those clothes). This time around I'm hating getting dressed in the morning.

congratulations on your pregnancy!
one thing I used to do way back when I was expecting my 2nd child..was to take a casual style button down blouse that fit nice and comfy find a coordinating fabric and create my own maternity wear by attaching a "skirt" bottom to the blouses...to make my own maternity dresses... take the blouse then just slightly shorten it by cutting it straight across at an area where it sets comfortably and will give you room to expand.. and attach a "skirt" to the bottom of it.No pattern..just measure the length you need from up above the belly to however long you need the lenth to be.then measure around the hips and add enough "flare"/fabric to suit you for gathering...and of course a bit of room for the expanding belly.

i never get very big when i'm prego. so i cut the front out of my prepregancy jeans and sew a stretchy panel in. if your looking for patterns, i'd try www.sewingpatterns.com they have a huge selection.

La! I made a dress! And it fits (for the next 20 minutes at least)! And it makes me look adorably stylish as well as adorably pregnant.
So now I have something to wear tomorrow
Here is the pattern I used:

with some alterations for my big belly -- and a sleeve alteration since I felt like the last thing I needed was a big old balloon sleeve at exactly the same visual spot as said big belly.
I'm just so happy to have completed something today more strenuous than a nap!
And it looks so cute I cut a second identical dress out, this one in a stretch fabric (I'm not sure what I was thinking originally, cutting a maternity dress out of a woven, probably something like "I love brown!") so if I ever finish that one I'll have two! Of course - the whole time I was cutting out the second dress I was thinking NOOOOOOOOOO.... now the stack on my sewing table will have stayed the exact same height! It will be like I did no work at all! Must be the baby brain.
Yay!

i love the pattern. my favorite maternity dress was just an adaptation of a regular dress, but like i said before i hardly show.

Good point about the prenatals. Me and vitamins have an adversarial relationship. I try to take them and then I throw up - even when I'm not pregnant. So I bought the super-luxury New Chapter Perfect Prenatals which is made from actual food stuff instead of whatever it is regular vitamins are made of and (thankfully) don't make me vomit. BUT then I feel guilty taking them because they are so darned expensive ($60 for a month supply -- do you know how much FOOD I can buy for $60?????).
Anyway, I'm wearing my new dress today and my husband was very complimentary.... in the "you MADE that?" vein. Hurray!

think about it..that is only $2 per day, most people spend more than that everyday on beverages. it is so worth it.

Okay Corrine, you talked me into it -- I was a good girl and took my vitamins today. After all, I already paid for these vitamins, so not taking them because they were expensive is extremely silly, unless I want to just admire them as a work of art, right?
