Sadly, we aren't having a 2008 Farm Fair on July Fourth. My lovely brother and his bride-to-be are getting married the last weekend of June at the farm! We are so excited for them and planning already! Which I love, of course! Stella gets to be a flower girl and my sister-in-law-to-be is sewing all the dresses including hers! So, I am rambling...but this is the unofficial official news here at the farm. Thanks for checking in and we are very sad we won't get to see you all for the Fourth!

Hi Everyone,
We're sad about not having Farm Fair this year, too, but I have good news!
MaryJane will be teaching classes and lecturing in Des Moines, IA in October for one of the American Quilter's Society conferences. (They also have conferences scheduled in KY and TN.) The AQS is the largest quilt society in the world, and they have their own magazine. Their conferences are attended by up to 35,000 people from 80 countries!
One of the events they have scheduled is "Jazz Up Your Denim," so, it sounds to me like all the Farmgirl Sisters with their denim jackets and badges have a prime chance to "strut their stuff," Farmgirl-Style!
Check out their website: http://www.americanquilter.com/
So, even though you won't be able to put Farm Fair on your calendar this year, maybe some of you can join MaryJane at the Des Moines show. (She'd love to see you there!) If you love creating with fabric, it sounds like it will be so much fun!

Has anyone at the Farm looked into updating the website? The Farm Fair page still says there will be a Farm Fair at the Old Mill in 2008. And the B&B page says it will be open May 1st-July 15th and to call and make reservations. When I called I learned it wasn't opening this year due wedding planning. It would be nice to have the info up and maybe save the staff some time in answering all those calls

Jessica, thanks for the reminder on Farm Fair. We are planning to have it at our Old Mill in Oakesdale in 2009.
We are in fact having B&B guests this year but we’ve had to limit the number of reservations we take because of two reasons: we’ve lost our B&B manager and also because we lost two tents to heavy snows this year. We don’t know how long before April’s replacement is up to speed and how long before the tents can be rebuilt (we’ve started to work on them but got three more inches of snow this morning--unheard of this time of year). So we are taking the names and phone numbers of B&B hopefuls.
P.S. Also, we will be full to the max with family and friends for my brother’s wedding in June, so we’re hoping it quits snowing before then!

Hi Meg,
Thanks for letting me know! I suppose the limited spots for May were filled-up when I called. Sorry to hear about the damage to the tents. I have a good friend in Moscow and I heard it was a record winter. I will email you my contact info in case a B&B spot opens up. Are you hiring a new B&B Manager? I'm ready to move! :)
Jes
