An old quilt with alot of holes or worn spots, but that is great to cut up for crafts.

Or, for someone like me, a cutter is one I buy and then never can bear to cut up. I always feel like I'm rescuing them. Many times, they can be folded for display where the badly worn spots do not show. If quilts could talk, they'd have wonderful stories to tell. Ronna |

I have a really pretty basket quilt...light green on white that was sold as a cutter quilt and I have it folded over my front bar of my big loom in the living room...couldn't bear to cut that one up for sure...so I agree Ronna!!

it is sometimes hard to cut into even a 'cutter quilt' .. but i often do .. because it truly is 'recycling' fabric that would most likely end up in a rag bag or tossed out if it is in very bad condition. i almost bought one today .. did some fun antiquing in 'glendale' .. a cool little town not toooooo far from me. (got yet another PRECIOUS child's ironing board .. has red legs .. i have an old child's RED iron .. t'will be cute in the shoppe for 'valentine's month'! also got some vintage 'ticking' pillows for a bed that i'm donating to our local town 'historic log cabin' .. these pillows and a feather 'ticking' mattress and olde quilt will look great in there! i'm also donating a kitchen table and two antique chairs .. been roaming around our own cabins finding wonderfuls for it. the cabin has never been 'decorated' .. and i was asked to take on the project! soooooooo exciting!
nancy .. another neat-o thing to make with 'cutter quilts' is those wonderful pin cushion 'make-do's' on candlestick holders. AND .. of course, i often dress my dollies in them!

Nancy, Thank you so much for asking this question! I didn't know what a cutter quilt was either. I love this forum because I get inspired to try new things and you all are a wealth of knowledge! My creative juices have been dormant for a while now and I'm so excited to get all this information and cultivate new, creative ideas!
