I do photography as a hobby and do some art shows, etc. Well I got some wonderful news. A doctor that purchased one of my equine photos just purchased one of my basket photographs that I took while at my aunt Wilma's. It was of a basket that was 100 years or more old with a pair of children's shoes in front. He is interested in purchasing some more photographs of my Kentucky living series. It definitely brightened my day.

Hopefully within the next week, I find out if any of my 3 photos I submitted will be accepted for an art show. I had 2 photos accepted last year. Cross your fingers!!

Hip Hip Hooray!!!! Jessica that's great! Is he going to use them in his office, or at his residence? Either way that's wonderful. I'm anxious to hear about your other entry, too (I'm sorry, I've forgotten which Kentucky thingee it was for, you're such a busy bee!!!)

Thank you so much guys! I really appreciate it. Jonni - it will be for his office. I've got to run out tomorrow and get some more frames. This past Christmas, I gave my family and friends photographs that were framed in barnwood and matted. I've got to start working on this one project that I keep meaning to do. I definitely cannot wait until spring when it warms up!!

That's great. Don't forget to give him a couple of business cards to keep at the front desk so that if patients ask about the photos, they know how to find you. I bet the photos really look great in the barnwood frames.

Jessica, that's fantastic news!! You must be so happy!

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of training do you have? I'm interested in photography too, but I don't have training (one measly high school class) or fancy equipment.

Thank you so much for your sweet words guys. I really appreciate it. I had two of my horse photographs shown late last year and then put them in an art auction for charity. I was super surprise by how much they brought. One of those auctions is where the doctor purchased the horse print.

Jonni - definitely got business cards and will see if he can put them up at like the checkout or something.

Jennifer - I started in photography when I was 9 years old in 4H. I taught myself reading through the project book on using a camera, etc. Then in High school I took a couple of classes on photography (way before the digital cameras). I was on our yearbook and newspaper staff during HS and college. Then in college I took another class. I was head photographer of our yearbook and and worked for the newspaper. Some of my photos were in the college publications and that was pretty neat to see them in print. After college I slowed down and finally about a couple of years ago I got serious about the photography hobby again. I bought another camera and practiced with it. I started entering in our county fair each year and did a couple of art shows. Things have definitely changed with just about everyone having a digital camera and most of the semi-pro cameras are reasonably priced anymore. The hard thing in this area is that you have college students and high school students alike who are doing photography. The prices of photos are so varied amongst folks. My main focus lately is doing still life and rural living/farming. I don't mind doing portraits, etc either. There are a couple of shows that I'm hoping that I can get into. I'll keep ya'll updated. :)
