headed for louisville .. talked with my diabetes educator .. i'm gettin' the PUMP! everyone SWEARS by it! dang thing cost $7,000!!! thank god for good health insureance!!! had a good report .. all my 'parts' are in good workin' order!

went to the Louisville Antique Market on Broadway .. it was 'o.k.' .. but not enough good early prims for me! i did buy 7 HUGE (size of beach balls!) olde woolen rag balls ... ohhhh .. the 'projects' i have in mind to use them for! AND .. i found a RED check APRON .. that will be cute for valentine's day .. to add to my collection.

Then i went to two movies .. at "The BAXTER" ... honey hunk and i love the BAXTER .. it has good movies and often one or two that you can't see in most theatres. Tonight i watched Charlie Wilson's War .. it was excellent! and 27 gowns. cute. He missed going with me today .. cuz' he was giving a talk at Greensburg's High School on his trek up Mt. Everest. He had a great time and loved all the questions and interest the kids (and teachers) had!

back home sweet home and gonna' finish up those twenty-some dollie bodies .. and i have a buncha' black dollies to sew up too!

Frannie- I hope this makes your life easier! I know that if I ever get diabetic I would throw a fit to get the pump because I scared silly of needles! :D

alee darlin' .. it becomes so 'routine' .. you hardly even know you're stickin' yourself .. (it's just REMEMBERING to .. that i have to work on!) the jury is 'out' as to whether i would prefer a teeeeeeeeensy stick in the morning and every time i eat something .. OR .. having that contraption STUCK in me ALL the time! whatever! .. as long as my 'parts' are workin' .. i'm just thankful! xo

I was worried a bit when my doctor put me on insulin and prescribed Byetta, needles make me a bit nervous too. I give myself two shots daily of the Byetta in the tummy and take the insulin when I need it. The doctor gave me a scale of when and how much I have to take. It does seem to become routine after awhile. Although during the holidays I forgot a few times, I'm back on track now though. As far as checking my levels the I'm glad the machines now don't take as much blood to sample. I don't stick my fingers usually just the back of my forearms and I seldom even feel it.

Frannie I wish you the best with the pump, I'm interested to hear how it goes for you.

elaine .. i know you can check blood at other sites .. but i've had two endocrinologists tell me that you get more 'accurate' readings when pricking your fingers. but maybe that's cuz' i'm type ONE .. but you might want to still check. (i also read that with the instructions that came with my pump).

i won't get the pump for two or three months. (paperwork i'm told) .. AND .. i have to take TWO classes on how to use it correctly. i'll let ya'll know! take care of those sugars of yours too darlin! xo

Frannie - my son-in-law has had a pump since he was 16. One of the first given out in Florida. It has made a vast difference in his controlling his type I diabetes. Just recently he got the newest pump made, it is expensive, but checks his insulin levels more often and automatically. I wish you all good things with your pump. I am so happy you are getting one!

bridget .. i started out with type TWO about 12 years ago .. didn't pay as much attention to it as i probably SHOULD have ... all you gurlfrenz who have highs and lows .. that's usually PRE .. soooo .. take care of you!!!! i 'graduated' to type one almost two years ago. don't like it of course .. but i think of all the other things i'd rather NOT have! (ha! until i'm jumpin' around on 'stumps' .. then i might change my mind!) funny ... we can't find anyone in my family with diabetes (i'm suspecting the milk man or mail man!!) actually, my dad got it VERY LATE in life .. i think he was in his 80's!

yes!!! i loved Charlie's War .. the CIA agent was a hoot .. i loved his story about the young boy who got a pony!
WE'LL SEE!!! kinda' the old parable: "be careful what you ask for .. you just might get it!" made me wonder where Charlie Wilson is today .. and i wondered what the REAL 'julia roberts' (rich texan woman) truly looked like! was she anywhere near as beautiful as Julia?

i spent a few years of my life on "Capitol Hill" working for Congresswoman Dwyer of New Jersey .. and oh my yesssssss!!! much of what the film portrayed is true! My cousin was the 'belle of Capitol Hill' in her day .. and she always took me to the Hill Parties. I was in my early 20's .. and truly was not very comfortable gettin' my hiney pinched by congressmen and senators ... sooooooooo .. i told her that while this was a 'fun' lifestyle for her .. i just really didn't enjoy it and she understood and i stopped going. HOWEVER ... i must admit ... Bobby Kennedy 'rang my chimes' (i was ten years older) .. OH .. i guess i should say i TRIED to get Bobby to 'ring my chimes' .. but unbeknownst to me at the time .. my competition was: MARILYN!!!! ahhhhh! the 'good 'ole days'!!!

jeannie .. childhood has to be the most challenging .. i have a 7 year old nephew (not blood related to me) that just got diagnosed! (his dad has it!) i keep reading great things about it .. of course, a CURE would be pretty cool too!!!

hahah Frannie+BK=Marilyn! :-O Yeah I would always here about the behind the scenes in Pakistan. I was the only one in a theater of ol fuddy duddys laughing here and there and I was the only one that got the oh yes a tall class with lots of ice and scotch....I cracked up DUH Charlie!!!!! It's a MUSLIM place. BUT that's another thing behind the scenes he did more than likely have Booze there...Yeah Politics is DIRTY I don't care what anyone would say to make it sound like it's not. Two things I never wanted to be a preachers wife (my sailor mouth and loud style) and a politicians wife (though I'd be better than one I can think of that badmouthed hardworking americans) hehe Wonder what Jesus would do if he was running for office. I think that'd be a nice change, not necessarily welcome though. Oh my mind is racing today and no caffeine!

Frannie - my daughter is being very careful about getting our little ones checked - I pray they never get it. But, as you say, there are many worse things to have..... Scott (SIL) takes good care of himself, and I hope you do to. Just glad you are getting that pump.

thanks jeannie .. i'm so very thankful that my diabetes has (up to this point) been a 'slow' progressing one .. all my parts are jus' fine now .. and that pump will hopefully delay anything in the future! daughter, wednesday, has become more aware with herself and her little ones .. jus' knowing it is DEFINITELY IN THE FAMILY!

i would say 99 percent of the time .. i feel GREAT .. it's those LOWS that sometimes knock me on my butt for about fifteen minutes!

we women have to take good care of all our 'parts'! xo
