I am very sad because I am having a lot of fun doing my knitting, but each row I do makes my right hand go numb and start tingling. I think I am getting carpal tunnel. I have gone to see the doctor about it before, but I always test negative for it. I guess it is time to dig out my wrist brace again and wear it for a couple of days and hope the internal swelling goes down. *grumbles* This is not my favorite thing to do....

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/raynauds-disease/DS00433/DSECTION=1 I have this, and it is a real pain in the rear. You might also get scanned for hypothyroidism and rheumatoid arthritis. I know this all sounds pretty scary but forewarned is forearmed. Keep bugging the doctor if it persists. You deserve to have this fixed. Try wrist warmers =) I don't know if they would help you, but they have been suggested as helpful. My hands will go numb, tingly and stiff in a perfectly warm room if I do something repetitive and sit still for a length of time.

I have it too and its carpal tunnel, but being new to knitting you could be tensing up too. But when mine starts acting up I do something else then go back to it. Back and forth. At least, you can still knit doing it that way. It does goes away. Carpol tunnel has gotten from my hand to my arm pit. I pray thats it not for you.

I have carpal tunnel, had the surgery, and now it's back. It's my fault though - I couldn't stop crafting so I'm just dealing with it. Wearing a good quality, comfortable brace works. Don't get those stiff as a board ones. Very uncomfortable. Good luck with it.

Thanks for the link Annika- I have already be checked for all that :( I check out negative which is good in some ways, but bad in others. It is horribly frustrating. The doctor just tells me that I keep getting "Tendonitis" which I think is just another way of saying "We don't really know what is wrong or why so here is the default answer."
I have been typing a lot lately and then doing some heavy work at the horse farm so I will see how the next few days go before I make another doctor's appointment.

For me it is my right wrist that is buggin me. I broke it many years ago and I sometimes wonder if it didn't heal exactly right.

Alee, it definitely comes with needlework...when I crochet for a long while my last two fingers go to sleep..always have and I started crocheting when I was about 25 years old. The smaller the hook goes I even get to add some cramping to go with it.
I keep on keeping on....love it too much!
I've thought of buying one of those support bands for the hand but never have.

I have it too. I just stop and start..and change up what I working on. Knitting and embroidery both make mine flair up..but not as much now that I am not hand milking any more. THEN it was extra bad. I am not willing to stop any of the things I do, so I got a milking machine and that has helped alot..and just take alot of breaks. I keep a book nearby, so if I need a break I read awhile, throw in another load of laundry or something. My doctor would cringe and chew me out I am sure..but that is how I deal with it for now. I hope the braces help yours and you are able to knit more. I used to sleep in the braces and that helped the pain alot..now it is mostly tingling and numbness when I have a problem. Sounds like alot of us deal with it!

I just had the surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago....best thing I ever did...and it did not slow me down much. I am back to all of my activities...just a little tenderness over the scar area.
Seems to be common with us gals who use our hands all the time!
