Is there any way to obtain high speed internet without also subscribing to DirecTV?
I'm looking at something called Agristar right now, but I don't know if that's right for us.
Any input is appreciated!!

I think it just depends on your area. Call your phone company and see if they offer DSL, and contact your cable TV company and see if they offer Cable internet.
Look up your options online. I was able to find national and small local servers that way. I went with Dish Network. They offered a deal because we already had their satellite TV service. You can buy just their internet service.
There were a couple of local providers in our area but none could get a signal out here in the boonies. You can't know that until they send a team out to climb on the roof & see if they can get a signal. I had 3 teams out here before finding one that worked. LOL
Satellite is pricey too...but SO worth it! The time I wasted just WAITING for pages to load! Now I can do what I need to online & get on with my day. Hope you find something that works for you!

We have it with our telephone company the only way to go if available
I have Wild Blue through Dish Network. We just got it not long ago, and I love it. We were already a Dish Network customer, so I'm not sure if you have to be or not. We just get the locals though, so our dish bill was only $6 a month. The internet is $50, but we were paying $55 through the phone company for dial up, since we had to pay for the phone line which we only used for the internet anyway. I'm really happy with it.
