every christmas i give each grandchild a book, among their presents and this year i gave the girls pop up fairy books.
they are pretty amazing, and olivia, the 4 year old has really taken off with the whole fairy journey.
now when we are outside together we look and listen for evidence of fairies everywhere.
well, this past weekend we were in the side yard where we have our outside kitchen and table. there is a chandelier out there that i have strung a garland of tiny mirrors over.....and of course as the sun was going down it caught the mirror and little tiny "fairies" started dancing all over the place.
Olivia is sure that they were dancing with her and she says they landed on me and her. we had such a great time together exploring the dance of the fairies....so it just made me wonder if any of you have had these moments of wonder with your little ones too, i think they are the best of times and help us to keep our own sense of wonder.

I have fairies all over my house and just love them. I even had a laundry fairy, but she fell off the shelf she was on and broke into a bunch of pieces.
My daughter has taken to pointing them out when we are out and about. They're everywhere! LOL

oh no,,,,,i know the feeling, i think i have fallen off the shelf a few times myself when doing laundry
how old is your little one?
we have grandchildren now and we have 5 under the age of 6.
2 of them, olivia and deven live very close to us and we get to baby sit them after school and on the weekends when their parents have to work.
right now the schedule is on the weekends, and 3 days a week i get to pick them up and they eat supper with us.
they are so much fun and bring a lot of joy to us,,,,,and i am so lucky cause i get to be a "stay at home omie!"

I love faires!!! I have a collection of fairy dolls to prove it. LOL My daughter (now 26 years old) used to tell us every morning about the angels that visited her in the night, I loved hearing her talk about them and she was so serious. Treasure those moments they grow up so fast.

well, i try to be.....and i have to say its not hard to do.
i think i am a better grandma than i was a mom, lots of reasons for that, but basically i think that when you have grandchildren you really understand as kathy says that they grow up so fast.
when my kids were little, i was trying to go through school, and at times wondering what i would do when i grew up, and now i just feel that my job is to just provide love.
the parents have the tough job of teachin the lessons, i'm just here for the "fluff" and i love it!

Frannie, my "little" one is actually eleven, but is very petite, so she looks around eight. She is the kindest person I know.
She loves my favorite fairy-a stained glass one I got last year at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. She would put it in her bedroom if I'd let her. LOL
Otherwise, I have a few others flitting about the house here and there. Not too much-I don't want to take away from each one's beauty.

Of course there are fairies. Really! They are little creations of God who have specific tasks to do. Case in point: About 35 years ago there was a spiritual community in Scotland called Findhorn that was self-sustainable. They grew huge vegetables prolifically on rock. They became famous world -wide and no one could figure out how they did it.
The leader (I've forgotten his name) said, "We just asked the divas (fairies)of the plants and they told us how to do it." Also, he was asked how the plants feel about our eating them and he said he'd asked them that question too. Their reply was, "our purpose is to nourish a higher organism so when we do that we have fulfilled our purpose."
I have two little figuines of two of the Italian kitchen fairies sitting on my stove. (I'm Italian) They're a tradition that goes back centuries.

A little boy I knew once had little "gnome" type invisible friends called Joops, who were "affiliated" with fairies, but they were warrior fairies. He was a hoot! I loved talking with him about them!
When living in England, it's VERY important to believe in fairies--though some of them are not as pretty as we'd like to think they are!

My oldest daughter and I LOVE fairies! She is currently reading every fairy book she can get her hands on and insists that when she is grown up she is getting a fairy tattoo. Her greatest dream is to fly away to Neverland and live in Fairy Hollow.

You may enjoy making fairy homes then. Usually you find collections of stones and bark and anything else you can assemble easily (no need for adhesive or nails, just prop things up against each other) and leave little pieces of bread or seeds in there. Young ones get real excited when the food is gone and they sometimes find little presents left behind.

I have a pattern that I found on Flicker that is for Elf shoes, but I make them as fairy shoes. Every house should have a pair!! And just why do we have to grow up, I for one want to be eternally two.

My fairies live in the apple blossoms in the spring time and in the morning glories that open in the summer time. How else would those bloom open each morning?

I don't know what I would do without the fairies! Well, maybe Alfred. He's more of an "imp". He lives in my frid/frzr. Whenever you get ice from the machine, he waits a few minutes to later drop one more ice cube out onto the floor! But his brother, Leo, leaves nickles in strange places, so I let him stay.
I love deadlines. I especially like the whooshing sound they make as they go flying by. ~anon |

hahahahahah.....i wish we had a leo here, i think we have more of a spirit that takes money, cause we always have a lot less than we thought we did,,,,,but as i tell my kids, "we're rich , we just dont have any money!"

i do believe in fairies..... have several, they get kinda noisy at night tho, but their songs sure are pretty.. i do have one rude one tho, his name is fred, he is supposed to turn the light on and off in the refridgerator, but occasionally he sneaks out and causes chaos... he's known to cuss like a sailor

goodness, i love you girls! we use to have "someone" who lived in our house when i was a girl. i called him bob and he stole slippers. there was also an old couple who lived in our crawl space and made an aweful racket when they took to fighting...usualy on very cold nights (water pipes knocking). my family thought (still thinks) i'm kookie, but i had a lot of fun with my "friends."
