I signed up for weight watchers. I've posted before that I'm not FAT so to speak but I have pudge and I am not at a healthy weight for me. I have small bones etc. It seems my bones have disappeared under a cushy layer. I just want to feel healthy and I have a bit of a belly and that is not healthy! Let's see how this goes. I'm doing the flex points. Anyone try this or is currently doing it?

I have a lot of friends who have done this and kept the weight off for a long time.

I think the good thing about WW is that you learn how to eat and still live your life. You don't have to twist your life to fit your diet.

Good luck, Bridget!

I wish you luck with this!!!

I went to the flex points meetings with a friend who is obese. I thought I'd go for support--unfortunately, because I weigh 130, my "points" were only 20 a day, and I didn't do very well at that--I wanted to tone more, than lose weight. She did VERY well, and lost weight almost immediately, but she didn't keep it off (that's a whole other story). Additionally, I found the flex points to be a little "too" freeing for me--I need regimented design--and because of my past as a ballerina (and weirdo eating disorders), I didn't like to keep track of everything I ate, which they encourage, because I become a freakin' weirdo!!!! I'm sure that won't be the case with you

Now, all that said, I really did like the meetings and the paperwork they handed out-the support is great. I still have my points calculator and that's a helpful thing to keep around.

Yeah, I'm just doing it online. I'm right around 130 and 5'2 so I'm not bad just could use a lil give since I'm short. Also I think well when I want to have kids I want to be a lil under so I can gain weight. Sometimes I tend to retain water or other lil things. You should tell us about being a ballerina! That is so neat. Yeah I get 20 points so we'll see. I'm super nervous never did a diet or regimen.

I've been a member of WW several times. The first time I joined when I was only 17 and back then it was a more rigid plan. I did reach my goal though, and kept it off for several years. The last time I tried it I only went a few times and they had just started with the points. I did okay and lost for a while but then I went off and gained it back plus some.

I bet you'll do great. I've always thought the hardest part of doing something
big (like a diet) is DECIDING to actually DO IT! You've got that behind you. Good luck and
keep us posted on how you are doing!

My mil & sil are currently on the WW plan. And let me tell you, they are looking good! I think its a really wonderful program because it really is about changing the way we think about portions. Though I don't attend their meetings, I've learned alot about WW just from listening. It makes me concious about the portions on my plate.

I think you'll do just great. You've got a great attitude & are focused on health which is so important. Best wishes .... let us know about your success!

I think you'll do fine--I looked into the web program, but for me, I think I needed to actually "go" somewhere. It's too easy for me to complacent about things...I know you'll do fine, and like you said, you don't have much to lose, you're looking for a solution and a better way of eating, living, etc...I think that's great!

Lainey, you probably did the program my mom did. She actually weighed her food, and did quite well. She's smaller than me (just under 5 ft) and weighed about 145. You can imagine how stressed and tired her body was! About the same time she joined WW, my father passed away, and she reached her goal (sadly) in no time. That's been about 15 years ago, and she has still kept the weight off. She hovers around 104. She basically said WW taught her how to eat the right way.

See I used to be picky and borderline anorexic because of a father that was not very good. I have since healed that relationship more or less and found a love of food in college. That is where the issue came in. I cleaned my plate. If it was a ton I ate it all. Family has always wanted me to eat and eat. My mom in college said if you don't start eating I'm taking you to therapy. Well I figured that's a waste of good money. I already had some therapy for anxiety and was determined to just fix that issue on my own. I still look at food as a challenge and try to eat all I have. I fill up easily so I"m retraining myself to hear when I'm full and STOP. I hate to waste food but now the bf or his dog will eat the leftovers (if they are doggie friendly) so no more waste! I take doggie bags home if we are out. I just need to figure out how to prepare/cook food that I love etc. I do love salads (dark leafy greens) cheese and some protein in there chicken or beef. But I def have issues with food.

I'm all into the web so this is for me. I know what you mean though. I think I'll be coming here for a lil support. I'm also trying to exercise everyday. Today I walked to work! Not a far walk but I did it no less and briskly:) I also bought a weight set last night for my mum and I to use. :)

I'm sad to know you too had eating disorder issues. Being a girl can really suck

As a dancer, I was always tiny, but never satisfied with the way I looked, and by training, was taught to pick a-part every bit of me over and over and over, because, frankly, you can never be alright or even "ok"...and NEVER perfect.

I went through phases of eating "issues"...writing everything down that I ate, and that manifested into "counting" foods. I would allow myself, 2 crackers, 4 jelly beans, 20 pieces of bran cereal, etc...and if I had more than 2 crackers, then I would simply beat myself up for days and imagine, quite literally a weight gain. I weighed myself every hour on the hour if I was in the dorm room. Before performances, I would fast for a week, only drinking water when needed. I never dug bulimia, because, well, duh. Who wants to throw up? I also just figured it didn't really work because there were plenty of dancers around me who did that, and they didn't lose any weight!!!

I still don't have full length mirrors in house, nor do I have a scale. I stand up on the tub if I want to see an outfit, or I go outside and use the storm door for reflection. I simply CAN'T have them around. However, I really do eat now. I love food and I love my curves. There are days, sure that I think "gosh, what a YUK" but more over, I'm pretty satisfied...I hope you get reach your goals!!!
