I rescued this pup a few night ago. Someone had tied him up in a trash bag and thru him on the side of the road. Luckly I seen the bag moving and stopped to check it out.
He's a really sweet puppy, I think he may be a rottweiler, but I'm not sure.
If they didn't want him, why didn't they take him to the pound?

How can someone be so cruel to one of Heavenly Father's creatures?????

Nieki i feel the pain you area in . we live 6 miles away from"town" and every spring end up with puppies , dogs , cats, even a shunk once!!. i fall in love with them every time but some i do have to take ot the pound if i can not find homes. last spring we turned one in--a shepard mix, they spayed her and we adopted her oficailly the next day. wish i could keep them all but it gets sooooo expensive. hopefully he is just what someone you know is looking for. good luck in finding him a home, farmgirl hugs angela

What a horrible thing to do to an animal! Good thing you came along when you did and that you were so observant to notice it moving. That pup would have asphyxiated in that bag in no time. I'll bet he'd only just been dumped before you came along. I'm glad you picked him up.

That pup is so lucky to have you to rescue her. I have been in the position to have animals dumped near our place too..we always seem to have a zillion cats around..no idea who they belong to. I rarely keep one and consider it my own (did keep one last year and had her spayed and she has turned out to be a wonderful companion for my 12 year old cat) but I do feed them all and worry about them. It is just sad how little people care about animals.

They do it all the time, sometimes worse things. I'm very glad you found her--please give that little soul a squeeze from me and my clan.

I worked at a shelter and I can honestly say, aside from you farmgirls, I don't like human-types too much.

Oh my gosh. I am so glad that you were observant and realized something was living inside that bag. People can be so cruel and thoughtless. It makes you wonder how they treat their families.
Yay for you giving this pup a chance.

I have worked in rescue for 15 years and have seen everything. I will never understand how people can do the things they do. We recently received in a litter of 3 week old kittens that someone had tried to drown then urinated all over. How can people do this kind of stuff and lay their head down at night? There is a special place in hell for these people!

You won't be sorry, that pup will repay your kindness ten fold. All my guys are hard luck shelter stories, and they do everyday--laughter, love, being the best dogs they can be. Well, except for Daisy Bad Seed who sometimes lives up to her name :)

I like Spike--little tough guy!

That's terrible. Funny thing, I've gotten into the habit of looking carefully at every bag or odd looking lump of trash I pass on the side of the road for that very reason. I'm not sure where I got the idea, but I guess it's not as silly as I thought I was being.

It's amazing the cruelty humans can show to humans and animals alike. And think of the message that the children of these abusers are learning.....it's just sick.

From one animal lover to another, thank you.

That's horrible. I think it happens more often than we realize, though. Years ago I got a kitten from someone on the school bus. His dad had seen a beer box on the road and found it full of kittens. Middle of the road...right there on the yellow line.

I hope your little pup does well for you. Got pics?

BTW...most shelters charge you to drop off animals, so some people tend to choose a more shameful way out.

Love the name! Lucky pup, he will love you forever. I believe that when we show kindness to animals that they comprehend it and are even more loyal because of it.

poor little puppy.. i do not understand how someone can do something like that to an animal and still sleep at night. i have rescued so many animals this way, and each time my heart has broken.

Life is too short to be narrow minded.

Spike is blessed to have you adopt him. It's a horrible way to get a new friend but what a great story of love and kindness defeating hate and ignorance.

I just saw this post and that pup is so lucky to have been found by you Nieki! I have to also agree with Jonni - I'm not too thrilled with the human kind either. I love all my farmgirl friends and my family, but others leave much to be desired. So much cruelty and hatred going on. So sad. I'm happy for that little pup, though. She has a chance now. Bless you girl!

I swear people are so ignorant and need to be strung up in the manner they dispose of their animals!

We get a lot of dumped animals at the zoo too. Our dumpsters sit just inside the gates (that BTW anyone can drive though) and you wouldn't believe the numbers.

Over the summer 3 beagle pups were rescued....barely 6 weeks old and C O V E R E D in ticks! the poor babies Luckily some of the vet techs volunteer for the local humane society and make sure cases especiaslly like this are adopted or at least taken to foster homes.

If I had more house space and a bit more $$ I'd love to do the foster thing.

Around here, pets are just fixtures

It breaks my heart to see dogs tied out or alone in outside kennels

Pitiful

As a Christian, I know we are to have dominion over the animals...but dominion does not in anyway mean abuse and neglect!

Much happiness you, Mommakat, and you new furbaby

I believe rescues and adoptees ARE more grateful!
