Hi Gals,
My husband has been creating a new site for the magazine "Small Town Living"

Yeaaaa! Thanks Tina! While I LOVE the olive green background & it's good with the black font; the gray colored font is tough to read, but the orange "pops". The Khaki is good/easy to read too.

we will actually maintain both websites..the dot com and the dot net sites.
The dot net will have the magazine only on it..but the dot com will be for our readers to share information and ideas with others.

Tina,
Wow....love it. I will visit it often. Still hoping one day to see a hard copy of your magazine on the newstands. Pray it will happen.

May God bless those who love the soil,

Patsy

Hey! I so enjoy visiting your site because it is a literal breath of fresh air, with writing and photography that are equally crisp and inviting. What I'm wondering though is whether y'alls choice of the banner photo featuring a farm doesn't change the first impression of the site's content to rural versus small town, sometimes the same, but often not.

I am surrounded by small towns, and were I to photograph life in any of them, I'd take pictures of the blue plate special at a local dinery, melting icing on a homemade cinnamon bun, a neighborhood with porches, tree swings, a church marque advertising the Sunday sermon, milk delivery... Think Kodak moments of Small Town Living.

I may be way off track with my opinion, but I took your invitation to comment as genuine and I hope you will view it as an attempt to be helpful, not critical.

And, by the by, if you have openings for contributors, I'd love to write an article for STL.

Tina - I've always enjoyed your website and magazine and keep telling others about them. Gosh if I ever get the chance, I'll try to write up an article or two with some photos to send your way. Miranda Lambert has her song that came out earlier this year and I thought of our small town when I heard the lyric "Everybody dies famous in a small town." I love living in a small town much more than when I lived in the city for 4 years!! There is nothing like it.

Keep up the great work!!

thanks Jessica...and everyone.
I grew up in a small town in South Florida..and well..I have been transplanted to the city for the last 17 ...nearly 18 yrs.
My heart still belongs in a small city though..and I constantly cultivate that "small town" mentality.."farm girl mentality" within myself..even though I have been in a city for so long.
Everywhere I have lived in this city..I continually have to have flowers, and birds and "countrified" things surrounding me.
The magazine is truly more of who I am ,and what my heart is about... and who my husband is as well...
that's why when my husband might get frustrated with all the work that goes into creating the magazine(and believe me..it is a lot of work for which we don't get any monetary gain from) but the kind comments from our readers...and the reward of a job well done..and the satisfaction of sharing wonderful things with others..I tell him that we can't stop..we have to keep doing it.
The reward is in finding information that we ourselves love to know about..and then in turn sharing it with others. It's been a win/win situation. We learn new and wonderful things right along with our readers..and in that is a great reward.
It brings great joy to us to know that even though we are "babies" at this sort of thing...having only been bringing the magazine to folks for a year. That there are so many already that get great joy from reading and viewing the images that we have shared through the magazine. It's been a very rewarding experience thus far.

thank you. Paul is still learning all about the website creating program and will try to change those font colors/other colors out that weren't too popular/were hard to read..and so forth.. he said it's alot harder than just clicking a button, but he'll get back on the website and try to figure things out soon.
thanks everyone for the input.
