My Poor Little baby! She is teething so much right now. I just peered at her gums because I knew her front two teeth were coming in...and SUPRISE! Not only are the front two coming in, but and additional 4 are coming in as well! She is trying to get all her front upper teeth at once! No wonder she has been poking at her gums so much! She has been a bit more fussy than normal but not horribly so. I hope these teeth hurry up and come in and quit hurting my little girl. Unfortunatly- I will probably be the one hurting then. Nora just might get weaned early as she sure does like to chomp on things!

Oh poor little mouse! That is terrible and good, at least she will have them all in and not prolong the process. LOL! I suggest early weaning
I won't offer advice, you have all that and more between you and you family. I just hope little miss Nora feels better soon from the awful chompers

I figure she is going to be pretty miserable from her until she is over 1 year old because soon her molars *ouch* will want to come in. Poor baby. But she is taking it like a champ and she really loves food so all in all I think we are pretty lucky!

Hopefully they are nearly through- for all of our sakes;)

Annika- did you see that I received your present under the Goddess Swap thread? I am LOVING it all- especially the bath salts this morning during my break from holding my fussy little one!

when Naomi was a baby I would take a washcloth and get it wet, ring it out, then put it in the freezer until it got cold..she loved gumming on it. of course they must be supervised when given something like that, but it is very soothing to their teeth/gums.

I don't have kids so I'm not much help, but I remember seeing somewhere where Russian mommies would take frozen grapes & somehow put them in a cheesecloth & let babies teethe on them. Seems like it would taste & feel great. I know you are one of the most ingenious among us, so how the cheesecloth works into the whole deal is for you to figure out
Good Luck
PS Nora is adorable & I love her name!

Frozen washcloths work great -- One Step ahead is a fun company and they used to carry a net pacifer like thingy that you could put frozen fruit in for baby to teeth on. (http://www.onestepahead.com.)
There was a whole nother thread on here about nursing and biting. Babies can not bite and suck at the same time (think about it you can't either -- try it with a straw)often it's just them learning about them and is not a reason to wean.
The Hyland Tablets work great and are safe.

Well, three of the uppers have finally broken through. I am a bit concerned about one of the front teeth though. I can't tell if she has a blood blister/scab on her gums from the teeth poking through or if the darkness is actually on the tooth itself. But there is definitly some darkness in that area. I didn't take any anti-biotics when pregnant which I know can sometimes discolor a baby's teeth so I am hoping whatever it is- goes away!

Nora is enjoying biting- she will try and bite our toes if she sees them. She is learning pretty quickly that isn't acceptable though. She has bit my fingers when I am putting Oragel on her gums or when I am trying to see her teeth, but she is being pretty good, all things considered.

So far so good with nursing. I know that she will nip me sometime soon though, because she has done it with her lower teeth. Ugh. I am really not looking forward to that!

She is waking up a lot at night, which isn't normal. I feel bad for her, but luckily just giving her the pacifier back gets her to sleep again.

The Hylands Tablets saw us through her bottom teeth coming in, and they are helping but don't seem to be enough for all the top teeth coming in right now. So she does get a little tylenol when she is in crisis, Oragel to help get her through until the tylenol kicks in and lots and lots of stuff to chew on. Hopefully they all finish breaking through quickly!

My Lela was the same way, a whole lot at once.

I highly suggest HyVee's teething tablets. All natural and they would put Lela right to sleep. There is no "sleep" medication in them, but they would ease her pain so much she would fall right to sleep. Their colic tabs were great as well when she had gas or a upset tummy!

Oh! I just googled HyVee's teething tablets and it turns out they are Hylands teething tablets. They must have several "names" depending on where in the country you are.

Re: teething and nursing

Both my kids were very early teethers (4-5 months) and both experimented with the 'ol nip and chomp. I said "no biting" firmly and smashed their little faces /into/ the breast. This has the double advantage of being uncomfortable AND requiring the chompers to release because baby can't breathe when his nose is covered with breast tissue and he needs to get his mouth free. It is counterintuitive (since what you really want is baby AWAY from your nipple right then but very effective). My oldest bit twice, my younger one three times, and then they decided the payoff was not worth the consequences. I credit this technique to Dr. Sears.

Hope this helps.

Cool Alee! lol I love those tablets! :) When I went to Kansas they had them for every thing at Whole Foods. Here they only have the colic and teething. But, in Kansas I seen them for colds, and bedwetting and every thing in between! lol I bought the cold ones, and even take them myself and they work great! lol
