So I'm starting to sew a dart, and two stitches in, my sewing machine thread starts knotting up. So I stop, rethreaded...try again...same thing. I've cleaned it, put a new needle in, took it apart and cleaned it more. Oiled it. etc..but still it knots up. I don't know what the deal is, I'd just finished another dart right before and it was fine! And I've got one project that HAS to be completed by tomorrow night, and another I'd like to complete by then as well. But without a working sewing machine, its a no-go. Please any tips or hints to get my machine working properly would be of HUGE help... TIA

Lordy, there is nothing more frustrating than when your machine won't cooperate! What comes to mind is the following...sure hope you find a solution that works. I'm pretty sure what you have is a tension problem though. 1. Check your tension...if the thread is knotting all up on the BOTTOM of the fabric, it's your top tension that needs tightening. 2. Make sure your thread is running through the opening properly on the bobbin case. Also, make sure your bobbin is in the case the right way. 3. Try a different needle again. 4. Double check to make sure the thread is in the take-up lever and it's all threaded correctly. 5. Make sure your spool of thread hasn't wound itself around the spindle underneath the spool. Happens sometimes.
Good luck, makes ya crazy doesn't it!?! Di |

Try hanging on to the thread when starting. Practice on another scrap piece. I alway end on a piece of scrap so that does not happen. Sometimes the bobbins did not wind correctly. I know. Its fristrating to deal with. Sometimes its better to walk away. I certainly hupe you don't have to take it repair shop.
P/S they always told me if the thread is on the bottom its your top tension and if its on your top its the bobbin.

Thanks! I'll try these things! it is on the bottom, so it may be my tension...sometimes it takes someone else besides the person working on the machine to give fresh ideas...off I go to try all that...Thanks again!
