Hey Farmgirls, I just wanted to share a little tip I have for watering plants. Take plastic pop bottles or something similar to it and fill it with water and plant it into the ground near your plant. I usually plant just the top of the bottle into the dirt. And depending on what kind of soil you have, over time the ground will draw out the water. I like to do this when I go on vacation or if I'm too busy to water the gardens for a week. I learned this from my environment teacher in college; he was teaching this method to farmers in Africa who have large crops and little equipment. Let me know if it works for ya! Aubrey
Hi Aubrey! My mom has tried it this year with her Tomato plants, I have thought to do the same. It would be a time saver, plus for plants like tom's I know it would make them happy! Simply Julia

I used to do this in Calif when I lived there. Here, with our clay soil and a big layer of straw mulch I can go awhile between watering..no teenagers at home anymore either..so no big stash of pop bottles....haha It does work though!!
