Well, after a crazy but exciting move to Texas, I once again find myself back in Calilfornia. This past September, the house we were renting in Texas (brand new) became INFESTED with fire ants and we all know there ain't nothing short of burning them that kills them. Me, DS and even the dog got so badly bitten, we had to move out into a hotel (on the landlords tab) while they tried to fix the problem. Needless to say, DH and I decided living like this was ridiculous and we didn't have time to find anything else. DH had surgery and we all drove back to CA (where he is stationed) and are renting a little apartment for the next year until we figure out what to do next. We had a HUGE yardsale in Texas and made over $1400 and brought only what we truly needed here to CA. We did leave a few things in storage there as we had just bought a brand new refrigerator and the TV/entertainment center did not sell.
School is going along but I am truly getting burnt out. In less than 2 years, I am already half way through my Junior year. Still trying to decide if I want to keep going or take what I know and move on. My brain is tired...a break would be good and with my Associates, I can get a decent paying job already (couple that with over 12 years office experience, and I should be doing ok). I have until January to decide on what I want to do.
Also looking at getting a part time job to help get those CC debts down and put us in better financial straights.
My great Aunt passed away in October and this was the first time since I was 13 when my Nanna and Papa passed away, that someone so close to me has died. She truly lived her life her way and enjoyed every single minute of it. This has set me off thinking about what is important in my life and what am I waiting for?
I have become passionate about just being me- jeans, cowgirls boots, checkered shirts, short hair, long skirts, animals,creatng,a simple decorated home, the outdoors, finding fun in playing in the grass or chasing my son around. Over the past month, I really have starting living and the rest is all becoming not so important.
I once thought I had to pursue my bachelor's because that was what was expected. I tried working in business suits and being a fancy modern girl and it is so not me. I want to work in a little country doctor's office, come home to all my animals and family and spend the nights decorating and creating fun things with the kid and DH. want to live the life I grew up with. I read somewhere you can almost guarantee that you end up living the life you had when you were about 11 or 12, so that is right on with me.
We are still working on finding out farmhouse in Texas..it is out there...just waiting for some love. I want to put up a clothesline, get another dog or 2, a few kitties, spend my days fixing and puttering, make some of my clothes (farmgirl chic of course), make healthy hearty meals and breath some fresh air. I already have all the skills, just never realized it until now. I pursued everything else while suppressing my true farmgirl inside. I think she got out and whacked me over the head finally and boy, am I paying attention!!
So I am back to MaryJane's with a venegeance- to squeeze every last ounce of information out of all ya'll. I missed you and I am back, better than ever, fresh faced and clean slate. Let's get to learning, working and loving!!!

Welcome Back Heather! I missed you this fall. I was wondering how your move went and was hoping all was well. I am so sorry to hear that your little house got fire-ant infested, but I know your sweet Country Texan Home-Sweet-Home is out there somewhere just waiting for you when you and your family are ready.
Just be you and don't worry about what anyone else things. You are making a lovely fashion statement by being your sweet farmgirl self. Don't feel guilty because you have broken out of the commercialism ratrace. *hugs*

Aww!! It is nice to be missed. I am pouring over all the new postings since late summer. Alot to read and learn. Tomorrow I am going "thrifting" for Christmas and I can't wait!! YIPEEE!! I have a HUGE jar of change that I can use.

sounds like you have figured yourself out, i should take a page from your book and live life to the fullest and be myself instead of what i think i should be. time to do some self contemplating

Lavendar and anyone else- come contemplate with a cup of tea with me!! Or we can sit around eating chocolate chip cookies and oohing and aahing over MJ's items...
Seriously, I am as giddy as a school girl. Life can be so much fun, even though we have no money or what society expects of us. I am learning to have fun with what we have, where were are or for at least a handful of spare change. I am so ready to slow down and enjoy life. College will always be there but I am burnt out. I made it halfway to my Junior year in less than 20 months of schooling..I am pooped!!! LOL I want to watch my son learn and grow.
Fire ants- new house and they had infested into the foundation and were getting into the house through the walls. ICKY!! I didn't like the idea of all the chemicals they used on the house- I was too afraid to move back in there with DS and the dog.
Life goes on...

Wow Heather, you are a trooper thats for sure. You have a true, positive, Farmgirl outlook on life. So glad to have you back! Farmgirl truly is a condition of the heart.

Farmgirl Friends,
It is funny, I thought getting my degree was the focus, the goal, the end all and then, watching my toddler play one day and the death of Aunty "Em" really put things in perspective for me. I am not saying college is not a good thing, but I do not want timelines and deadlines and having to always perform right now. I have done enough of that for awhile. I just want to be- yes, working has hours and things must be done, but boy do I miss girlfriends, coffee chat, and lunch walks. I want to come home, make a hearty dinner and spend time with the family. I would also like to get to bed at a decent time and take better care of myself. There are some night with homework and getting everything done and finding time to write papers and take tests that I wouldn't get into bed until 1 in the morning, not take a shower for a day or so and gosh, my self primping has gone away. I want some normalcy again, time to do at least a cross stitch or 2, take walks with the kid and the dog, socialize, anything!!!
So that is where I am at...
I am so excited to be back here at MJ's- so much to learn and do!!
