My friend Bob Altman has been hard at work creating a new concept called Handmade TV. Just in time for the holidays, here it is below. If you have a high speed internet connection, you're in for a treat. He has dozens of recipes that you simply click on to find short how-to videos that will show you EXACTLY how to make whatever it is you're hankering to create. Yum. Double Yum.

P.S. Let me know what you think. I'd like to give him some feedback.

Look for my new book, "MaryJane's Stitching Room," in bookstores now. Coming next in 2008: "MaryJane's Outpost Guidebook - for Cultivating Your Inner Wild."

Very nice Mary Jane! That was a lot of fun to look at, and really well done. The pictures were so nice. Just like watching a cooking show. Now I need to go get something to eat.

I like the user friendly aspect of the site. Just curious, where do the recipes come from, and are they focused on ease, less steps, lower fat, what? I just focused on the side dishes, since I figured it would be varied--some good sounding recipes.

What a fabulous site for the cooking novice. I will definitely pass this link along. Especiallyto my son, who is on his own, and my daughter who soon will be.
Thank you for giving us the heads-up, MaryJane!

Bob is a Total Goddess!
This was amazing. The video quality was wonderful. The format was so easy and the colors were great..that is not too busy and the colors had eye appealing contrast.
Something that I've been thinking about a great deal is how to educate or better yet, re-educate people on the notion of "convenience and expense." It is my personal belief that people eat poorly because they have somehow been convinced that to eat well is too expensive and is certainly far less "convenient." I think this is what the budget mix and the one skillet meals addresses so well. I would love to see more of that and also some kind of cost breakdown so folks out there can see that, yes, they may have to spend a little more but
often not THAT much more and often sometimes at a savings! What do you think?
Many warm and happy regards, Julia Hayes

Mary Jane .. this site is DELIGHTFUL!!! i'll have to put the computer on the kitchen counter to remember all the steps though!

the film and sound kept cutting 'out' when trying to watch the recipes .. not sure if this is wednesday's computer (we're in toledo) .. will try and watch them again on my own computer when we get back to kentucky.

is there a way to 'print out' the recipes from the site .. so .. after watching the film .. i'll have the 'written' recipe handy in the kitchen?

BEAUTIFULLY DONE! great concept!

p.s. will Bob be extending this idea to other creative processes too?

this would be a terrific way to give 'on-line' dolly classes!!!

Very nice website, it does seem just like a cooking show. The recipes were easy to follow I thought, and unlike watching on tv I could pause and go back if I missed something. Thanks for sharing it with us.
